Hypocrisy is highly frowned upon in Islam –  Allah SWT says that hypocrites are placed in the lowest level of hell, as His Word says in Surah An-Nisa Verse 145. So hypocrisy is a major sin and is threatened with being placed in the lowest level of hell.  Imam Muslim narrated the explanation of the Prophet Muhammad SAW regarding the four characteristics of a hypocrite. If a prospective leader has hypocritical characteristics as mentioned by Rasulullah SAW, then he must be aware of the bad consequences, because he has committed such a big sin that he is threatened with being put in the deepest hell.
