JK Calls RI Paying Debt of IDR 1,000 T/Year, Sri Mulyani Says Like This

Not long ago, Former Vice President Jusuf Kalla said that President Joko Widodo's government had paid debts of Rp. 1,000 trillion each year.

Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati revealed that every year the government pays off the debt, which must be planned in the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN). The point is included in the financing strategy every year.

"If we look at the data and our debt management every year, the debt has several time periods, for sure the due date and payment of the debt are already in the State Budget and it is included in the financing strategy every year. That's what we do," said Sri Mulyani when met at the DPR RI, Tuesday (23/5/2023).

However, Sri Mulyani did not confirm or even deny Jusuf Kalla's statement. He only emphasized that the burden of state debt is still easy for the state to handle.

"In that case, the most important principle is that what is due can be paid, then the debt burden remains manageable. That is included in sustainability," he concluded.

For information, Jusuf Kalla mentioned the payment of Jokowi's government debt a few days ago. According to the 10th and 12th Vice Presidents of the Republic of Indonesia, repaying debts during the Jokowi era reached IDR 1,000 trillion per year.

This value is said to be the highest in the history of Indonesia. This statement was conveyed in the PKS 21st Anniversary at Istora Senayan. JK himself responded to the statement from the General Chair of the Democratic Party, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY).

"Pak AHY said he had a big debt, that's right. A year to pay debts of more than IDR 1,000 trillion, the largest in Indonesia's history since independence," he said at the event, quoted from PKSTV YouTube.

Regarding the Indonesian government's debt, until March 31, 2023 it has reached IDR 7,879.07 trillion. That number increased by IDR 17.39 trillion from the previous month's position which reached IDR 7,861.68 trillion.

JK Sebut RI Bayar Utang Rp 1.000 T/Tahun, Sri Mulyani Bilang Begini
