MUI,Values Coldplay Concert,Not In Accordance with Pancasila, Says Sandiaga Uno,

The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno responded to criticism from the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) for holding a concert by a British band, Coldplay.

According to Sandiaga Uno, his party has opened communication with the scholars.

"We have opened communication and want to hear input and suggestions from the scholars. This is part of us ensuring that this concert is within the legal corridor," said Sandiaga at the Presidential Palace Complex, Monday (22/5/2023).

"And Indonesia's part is a world tourist destination and also a destination for world creative economy products. So, if you look at this, you have to be well prepared, all suggestions will be considered and accommodated, of course, everything has to come from the legal corridor," he said again.

Meanwhile, responding to threats from certain parties when the Coldplay concert will be held later, Sandiaga said, it has been handled by the relevant ministries and institutions.

Furthermore, Sandiaga revealed that his party is currently recording and calculating the potential economic added value for holding a Coldplay concert in November 2023.

According to him, out of a total of 3,000 events including international concerts in 2023, the economic achievement target is around IDR 162 trillion or more than US$10 billion.

"Meaning this will open up business opportunities and the target of job creation at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy. As many as 4.4 percent of employment can be achieved, we are very confident," said Sandiaga.

Reporting from KompasTV news, Coldplay's concert plans are in the spotlight of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI).

MUI Deputy Chairperson Anwar Abbas believes that the Coldplay music concert in Indonesia which is scheduled for November 15 2023 at the Bung Karno Main Stadium (GBK) is contrary to Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution, especially Article 29 paragraph (1).

Therefore, Anwar asked the government not only to think about the economy, but also to pay close attention to morals, morality and national culture which could be eroded by presenting a music group supporting lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT).

"In our country's constitution, Article 29 paragraph (1) of the 1945 Constitution clearly states that the state is based on Belief in One Almighty God. This means that there should be no activities that we carry out in this country that conflict with religious teachings," Anwar said in a written statement received by KompasTV, Thursday (18/5).

Anwar revealed that not one of the six religions recognized by the state justifies and tolerates LGBT practices.

MUI Nilai Konser Coldplay Tak Sesuai Pancasila, Begini Kata Sandiaga Uno
