Let's Find Ourselves in the Koran Once Ahnaf bin Qais was reading the Koran. The verse he read was: {لَقَدْ أَنزَلْنَا إِلَيْكُمْ كِتَاباً فِيهِ ذِكْرُكُمْ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ} [الأنبياء:10] "Indeed We have sent down to you a book in which there is mention of you. Do you not think?" Ahnaf said to himself, "I will look for myself in the Koran. I want to know who I am and who I look like." He read verse by verse. He met with the following verse: {الَّذِينَ يُنْفِقُونَ فِي السَّرَّاءِ وَالضَّرَّاءِ وَالْكَاظِمِينَ الْغَيْظَ وَالْعَافِينَ عَنِ النَّاسِ وَاللَّهُ يُحِبُّ الْمُحْسِنِينَ} [آل عمران::134] "Those who spend in good and bad times, restrain their emotions and forgive people. Allah loves those who do good." He said to himself, "I am not here." He read again and found this verse: {وَيُؤْثِرُونَ عَلَى أَنْفُسِهِمْ وَلَوْ كَانَ ب above "They put others before themselves even though they themselves need it. Whoever keeps hims
