The Speaker of the United States House of Representatives (DPR) Kevin McCarthy was fired from his position, because he was considered treasonous for collaborating with the Democratic Party.
Conservative groups in the US House of Representatives were angry because McCarthy passed temporary funding supported by the White House to prevent a government shutdown.
The vote to oust McCarthy was led by the conservative right-wing Republican, Matt Gaetz, who bet that he could oust the speaker of the House of Representatives despite only having the support of a handful of people.
"The reason Kevin McCarthy was ousted today is because no one trusted him," Gaetz said after the vote, as quoted by AFP.
He added, "Kevin McCarthy has made a lot of conflicting promises, and when it comes down to it, he loses."
Not only Republicans, disdain for McCarthy also comes from the Democratic Party because he is seen as reneging on an agreement with President Joe Biden regarding spending limits agreed to earlier this year.
This latest maneuver is increasingly heating up the US political situation among members of the Republican Party, ahead of the 2024 US presidential election.
Meanwhile, the dismissal of the chairman of the US DPR this time was also considered "brutal", because it was the first time this had happened in 234 years.
The dispute comes just two days after the House and Senate passed measures to prevent a government shutdown, by extending federal funding through mid-November.
Conservatives were furious when they saw their opportunity for massive budget cuts squandered.
With McCarthy's dismissal, the DPR must now appoint an interim speaker to enter a recess until a permanent replacement is chosen.

Ketua Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat (DPR) Amerika Serikat Kevin McCarthy dipecat dari jabatannya, karena dianggap berkhianat telah bekerja sama dengan Partai Demokrat.
Kelompok konservatif di DPR AS marah, lantaran McCarthy meloloskan pendanaan sementara yang didukung oleh Gedung Putih, untuk mencegah penutupan pemerintah.
Pemungutan suara penggulingan McCarthy ini dipimpin oleh tokoh konservatif sayap kanan Partai Republik, Matt Gaetz, yang bertaruh bahwa dia bisa menggulingkan sang ketua DPR meski hanya didukung segelintir orang.
"Alasan Kevin McCarthy digulingkan hari ini adalah karena tidak ada yang mempercayainya," kata Gaetz usai pemungutan suara, seperti dikutip AFP.
Dia menambahkan, "Kevin McCarthy telah membuat banyak janji yang bertentangan, dan ketika semuanya sudah jatuh tempo, dia kalah."
Bukan hanya Partai Republik, ketidaksukaan atas McCarthy juga datang dari Partai Demokrat lantaran dia dianggap mengingkari kesepakatan dengan Presiden Joe Biden mengenai batasan pengeluaran yang disepakati awal tahun ini.
Manuver terbaru ini semakin memanaskan situasi politik AS di antara anggota Partai Republik, jelang pemilu presiden AS 2024.
Sementara itu pemecatan ketua DPR AS kali ini juga dianggap "brutal", lantaran baru pertama kali terjadi sejak 234 tahun terakhir.
Perselisihan ini terjadi hanya dua hari usai DPR dan Senat meloloskan kebijakan untuk mencegah penutupan pemerintahan, dengan memperluas pendanaan federal hingga pertengahan November.
Kalangan konservatif sangat marah ketika melihat peluang mereka untuk melakukan pemotongan anggaran secara besar-besaran menjadi sia-sia.
Dengan dipecatnya McCarthy, kini DPR harus menunjuk ketua sementara memasuki masa reses hingga pengganti permanen terpilih.
