SBY at the AHY Book Launching: People of the Republic of Indonesia, Don't Choose the Wrong Leader
The 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono or SBY warned the Indonesian people not to choose the wrong presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2024 election. He asked the people to really understand the vision and solutions of prospective leaders who will advance in 2024.
SBY conveyed this through a video shown at the launch of AHY's book entitled 'AHY's Transformation Tetralogy: A Collection of Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono's Thoughts & Ideas' at the Djakarta Theater, Central Jakarta, Thursday (10/8/2023). Initially, SBY talked about the situation from 2023 to 2024, the same as in 2003 and 2004.
"Indonesia's current situation from 2023 to 2024 is almost the same as the situation from 2003 to 2004. I still remember when I ran as a presidential candidate, I traveled around Indonesia meeting with the people, both day and night," said SBY at the event.
SBY then told what was his vision at that time and conveyed it to the people. He said that at that time he conveyed everything he could do without empty promises.
"What I convey is something that I can do, that I can do, so it's not empty promises, it's not the wind of heaven, because the people will always remember whether what I have said can really be realized in the government that I lead, " he explained.
"I think some of those present at this event still remember that what I conveyed to the people at that time was how post-crisis Indonesia which had many problems at that time could we change into a better Indonesia, a more secure and peaceful Indonesia, a more peaceful Indonesia. fair for all, a more democratic Indonesia, and a more prosperous Indonesia," he continued.
Because of that, SBY wants to remind the Indonesian people not to choose the wrong leader. He asked the people to truly understand the leader's vision and solutions in 2024.
"I must underline, when the Indonesian people have to choose their leaders they must really understand what the vision, solutions and thoughts of the prospective leader are. Why? In order not to choose the wrong one, so that it's not like choosing a cat in a sack who doesn't understand what a cat is like, I have to underline this," he said.
"And hopefully Indonesia will have a good political tradition, the government will be honest, open, and master the problems they face, and then be able to communicate this to the Indonesian people," he continued.
