Regarding the allegation of being tackled by Nyapres through the determination of the suspect Johnny G Plate, Anies: Hopefully it's not true

The presidential candidate (candidate) from the Coalition for Change for Unity (KPP) Anies Baswedan answered allegations that there was an attempt to thwart his candidacy by naming the suspect Nasdem Party Secretary General Johnny G Plate. 

Anies brought up the previous statement by the General Chairperson of the Nasdem Party, Surya Paloh, namely that he hoped that the attempt to thwart was not true. 

"The ketum has conveyed that he also said, 'hopefully that's not true'," Anies said at a press conference at the Nasdem Tower, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (17/5/2023) evening. 

Anies was reluctant to comment further regarding efforts to prevent him from running as a presidential candidate in the 2024 presidential election. 

The former Governor of DKI emphasized that he has the same views as Surya Paloh. 

"I quoted that, hopefully it's not true," said Anies. 

Previously, the Attorney General's Office (Kejagung) named the Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Johnny G Plate as a suspect. 

Plate became a suspect in the alleged corruption case in the provision of 4G base transceiver station (BTS) towers and supporting infrastructure 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 Bakti Ministry of Communication and Informatics for 2020-2022. 

"One person has been named a suspect as you witnessed earlier and was immediately detained," said Head of the AGO's Legal Information Center Ketut Sumedana at a press conference at the AGO, Wednesday (17/6/2023). 

The Director of Investigations for Jampidsus at the AGO, Kuntadi, revealed that the determination of the suspect against Johnny G Plate was related to his authority as a budget user and his position as a minister. 

"Of course as a user of the budget and as a minister. Based on the results of the examination, the investigation team today has upgraded the status of the person concerned from witness to suspect," said Kuntadi. 

Johnny G Plate was immediately detained at the Salemba Detention Center, Jakarta, for the first 20 days. 

Meanwhile, the Ketum Nasdem, Surya Paloh, ensured that his party would provide legal assistance for Johnny G Plate. 

Surya Paloh also believes that Plate is not involved in the 4G BTS procurement case at Kominfo.

Bakal calon presiden (capres) dari Koalisin Perubahan untuk Persatuan (KPP) Anies Baswedan menjawab dugaan adanya upaya penjegalan pencapresan dirinya melalui penetapan tersangka Sekjen Partai Nasdem Johnny G Plate.

Anies mengungkit pernyataan Ketua Umum Partai Nasdem Surya Paloh sebelumnya, yakni berharap upaya penjegalan tersebut tidak benar.

"Sudah disampaikan ketum bahwa beliau pun mengatakan, 'mudah-mudahan itu tidak benar'," ujar Anies dalam jumpa pers di Nasdem Tower, Jakarta Pusat, Rabu (17/5/2023) malam.

Anies enggan berkomentar lebih lanjut perihal adanya upaya untuk menggagalkan dirinya maju jadi capres di Pilpres 2024.

Mantan Gubernur DKI ini menegaskan bahwa dirinya memiliki pandangan yang sama seperti Surya Paloh.

"Saya mengutip itu, mudah-mudahan tidak benar," kata Anies kembali menegaskan.

Sebelumnya, Kejaksaan Agung (Kejagung) menetapkan Menteri Komunikasi dan Informatika (Menkominfo) Johnny G Plate sebagai tersangka.

Plate menjadi tersangka kasus dugaan korupsi penyediaan menara base transceiver station (BTS) 4G dan infrastruktur pendukung 1, 2, 3, 4, dan 5 Bakti Kementerian Kominfo tahun 2020-2022.

"Satu orang sudah ditetapkan sebagai tersangka seperti yang Anda saksikan tadi dan langsung dilakukan penahanan," ujar Kepala Pusat Penerangan Hukum Kejagung Ketut Sumedana dalam jumpa pers di Kejagung, Rabu (17/6/2023).

Direktur Penyidikan Jampidsus Kejagung Kuntadi mengungkapkan, penetapan tersangka terhadap Johnny G Plate terkait wewenangnya sebagai pengguna anggaran dan posisinya sebagai menteri.

"Tentunya selaku pengguna anggaran dan selaku menteri. Atas hasil pemeriksaan tersebut sehingga tim penyidik pada hari ini telah meningkatkan status yang bersangkutan dari saksi menjadi tersangka," kata Kuntadi.

Terhadap Johnny G Plate langsung ditahan di rumah tahanan (Rutan) Salemba, Jakarta, untuk jangka waktu 20 hari pertama.

Sementara itu, Ketum Nasdem, Surya Paloh memastikan bahwa partainya akan memberikan bantuan hukum untuk Johnny G Plate.

Surya Paloh juga meyakini bahwa Plate tidak terlibat dalam kasus pengadaaan BTS 4G di Kominfo.
