Developed by Google DeepMind and other teams at Google, Gemma is a family of lightweight and advanced open models, inspired by previous Gemini models. Gemma, which comes from the Latin word meaning “gemstone,” is designed to help developers and researchers build AI responsibly.  The Gemma model comes in two sizes: Gemma 2B and Gemma 7B, each equipped with pre-trained and customized variations according to instructions. To ensure responsible use, Google is also providing a new Responsible Generative AI Toolkit.
