If he dies, this rich Muslim wants to donate all his wealth
– A person's life sometimes changes after experiencing a devastating incident that can wake them up. That's what happened to Ali Banat, a businessman from Sydney, Australia, who made his fortune from the security and electronics business.
From this company, Banat had abundant money and often lived lavishly. He often buys luxury goods, such as cars, watches, shoes, and so on. In fact, BBC International recorded that the sports car he owns is worth US$ 600 thousand or Rp. 8.3 billion and he has a bracelet worth US$ 60 thousand or Rp. 833 million.
However, this attitude changed drastically in 2015. The pain was so intense and couldn't go away that he had to be rushed to hospital. Unexpectedly, the doctor said the pain was caused by cancer that was eating away at his body. Banat was sentenced to only have seven months to live.
The doctor's verdict was like lightning in broad daylight. Banat never thought that at the productive age of 30, he would have to suffer from serious illness and not have long to live.
This crushing blow made him remember the greatness of Allah SWT. Cancer made him see that his possessions were no longer useful. Not wanting to incur losses, the man born in 1982 decided to donate all his assets.
"I want to die without having any property," said Banat, quoted by One Path.
On YouTube One Path, Banat said that after being diagnosed with cancer he immediately rushed to give watches, clothes, hats and cars to people who couldn't afford them. Apart from that, he also decided to go to Africa for two weeks. There he traveled around and felt poverty with the residents until he founded a social foundation called "Muslims Around the World in October 2015.
Quoting The Sun, this social foundation is a forum for distributing Banat's assets. It is known that the assets were allocated to build mosques, schools and the lives of widows in Togo, Ghana and Burkina Faso.
Ali Banat's attitude then went viral and attracted the attention of many parties to donate wealth through the foundation. In the same year, the foundation managed to obtain donations of almost one million pounds sterling or Rp. 18.5 billion.
Thanks to these efforts, Banat admitted that children in Africa who were helped were more economically prosperous. Even though he was sentenced to death in the near future, it turned out to be wrong. Banat actually lived for another year before dying in 2018. Of course, Banat's death was according to his expectations, namely without leaving any wealth behind.
