Fasting is a worship commanded by Allah SWT to Muslims. In response, Allah SWT has prepared the gate of heaven Ar Rayyan which is specifically intended for people who fast.

There are obligatory and sunnah laws for fasting. When Ramadan enters, every Muslim is required to fast. Meanwhile, apart from Ramadan, fasting is sunnah.
The command to fast is contained in the Koran and explained in the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad. It is stated in a hadith narrated from Talhah bin Ubaidillah RA, a person came to the Prophet SAW and asked, which means,

"O Messenger of Allah, tell me what Allah has obliged me to do regarding fasting?" He answered, "Fasting in Ramadan." "Is there anything else besides that?". He answered, "No, except fasting is sunnah."

Ramadan fasting has its own advantages. In a hadith it says,
مَنْ صَامَ رَمَضَانَ إِيمَانًا وَاحْتِسَابًا غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَ دَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ
Meaning: "Whoever fasts Ramadan on the basis of faith and hopes for a reward from Allah, his past sins will be forgiven." (HR Bukhari and Muslim)
In another hadith, narrated by Al Bukhari and Muslim from Umar bin Khattab, he said that he had heard the Prophet SAW say,

God willing: God willing: God willing
Meaning: "Islam is built on five pillars; the creed that there is no god worthy of worship except Allah and that the Prophet Muhammad is the messenger of Allah, establishing prayers, performing zakat, hajj, and fasting in the month of Ramadan."

Ar Rayyan Heaven's Door

Heaven was created to have eight doors, one of which is called Ar Rayyan which is specifically intended for people who fast.
Summarizing the book Reunion of Heaven's Experts: A Number of Important Practices of Heaven's Inhabitants while on Earth by Ahmad Abi Al-Musabbih, a hadith is explained which mentions the names of the eight doors of heaven.

It is explained in Abu Naim's Musnad Ahmad and Al-Hilyah that a hadith was narrated from Hakim bin Muawiyyah from his father, that Rasulullah SAW said; "Indeed, the distance between the two sides of the door to heaven is equal to 40 years of travel. There will come a day when the gates of heaven will be crowded."

From Ubadah bin As-Shamit RA, that Rasulullah SAW said: "Whoever says 'I believe that there is no God but Allah Almighty and He has no partner, Muhammad is His servant and messenger, and Jesus is servant of Allah and the son of His slave girl,(which was created by) His words which He conveyed to Maryam, and (by blowing) the spirit from Him. And indeed heaven and hell are true (exist), so Allah will enter them into any of the eight gates of heaven that he wishes." (HR Al-Bukhari and Muslim)

Lailatul Badriyah in her book entitled Hadith Arba'in: The Final Destination of Your Life (Heaven) explains the hadith about the door of Ar Rayyan as a special door to heaven that people who fast will enter. Has told us Khalid bin Mukhallad, has told us Sulaiman bin Bilal said, has told me Abu Hazim from Sahal RA from Rasulullah SAW, he said,

"In Heaven there is a door called Ar Rayyan, on the Day of Resurrection no one will enter heaven through that door except the shaimun (those who fast). No one will enter through that door except them . Then it was said to them: Where are the shaimun, then the shaimun stand facing. No one will enter through the door except them. When they have all entered, the door will be closed and no one will enter through it." This hadith also emphasizes that people who fast sincerely and only hope for the pleasure of Allah SWT will receive a reward from heaven. Apart from being forgiven of sins, people who fast are also provided with a special door to heaven.
Wallahu a'lam.
