AI Chatbot Boss ChatGPT Enters the List of the Richest People in the World This Year

Forbes announced its annual list of the world's richest people this year. The total number of billionaires reached 2,781 people from various countries with total wealth reaching USD 14.2 trillion or IDR 225,950 trillion, an increase of USD 2 trillion or IDR 31,824 trillion compared to 2023. According to the report, there are 141 new billionaires on the list. 

The list of the richest people in the world for 2024 also broke the previous record that occurred in 2021, with the addition of 26 new billionaires whose total wealth increased by USD 1.1 trillion or around IDR 17,503 trillion. The US ranks first with 813 richest people, followed by China with 473 billionaires and India with 200 richest people. Forbes used stock prices and currency exchange rates as of March 8, 2024 to calculate their total wealth. 

At the top of the list of the richest people in the world is the Bernard Arnault family with a wealth of USD 233 billion or around IDR 3,707 trillion, followed by Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg and Larry Ellison. Microsoft founder Bill Gates is in seventh place with wealth of USD 128 billion or around IDR 2,036 trillion, behind Warren Buffett who has total wealth of USD 133 billion or around IDR 2,116 trillion. 

The founder and Chief Executive of ChatGPT, Sam Altman, is also on the world's richest list this year with a fortune of USD 1 billion or IDR 1.5 trillion. 
Get a Golden Visa

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) OpenAI Samuel Altman became the first foreigner to obtain a Golden Visa for the Republic of Indonesia after the regulations were passed at the end of last August. Altman received a golden visa with a sub-category of world figures with a stay period of 10 years which was signed by the Director General (Dirjen) of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) Silmy Karim. 

Silmy said there are several criteria to be able to get a golden visa, namely on the basis of investment or capital investment and to someone who has benefits for the country. "Golden visas are given to figures who have an international reputation and can provide benefits to Indonesia," said Silmy Karim in a written statement. 

Golden visa is a type of visa that is given as the basis for granting a residence permit for a period of five to 10 years with the aim of supporting the national economy. This has been regulated in the Minister of Law and Human Rights Regulation (Permenkumham) Number 22 of 2023 and the Minister of Finance Regulation (Permenkeu) Number 82 of 2023. "In obtaining a golden visa, the recipient must be nominated by a central government agency." Silmy said. 

Samuel Altman is a world figure who is the CEO and Co-Founder of OpenAI, which is an artificial intelligence (AI) research and application company in the United States (US) whose mission is to ensure that artificial intelligence benefits all mankind. Altman came to global attention because of the success of ChatGPT, an OpenAI product launched at the end of 2019. 

Last June, Samuel Altman came to Indonesia to share knowledge about artificial intelligence (AI). With this golden visa, Altman is expected to contribute to the development of the use of artificial intelligence in Indonesia. 

As a golden visa holder, the CEO of OpenAI will also be able to enjoy a number of exclusive benefits from this type of visa. These include priority screening and service lines at airports and longer stay periods. Then, ease of leaving and entering Indonesia as well as efficiency because there is no longer a need to apply for a limited stay permit (ITAS) at the immigration office.
