- The population of people who embrace Islam continues to increase. Currently it is estimated to reach 2.02 billion people or 25 percent of the world's total population.
According to detikHikmah, from Global Muslim Population data published on the Times Prayer page, the number of followers of Islam as of Friday (2/2/2024) at 13.30 WIB reached 2,022,131,798 people out of 8,088,527,193 people in the world's total population. This number makes Islam the second largest religion in the world after Christianity.
That number is in every region of the world. A number of countries in the Asia-Pacific are the largest homes for Muslims. The largest Muslim populations in the region are in Indonesia, Pakistan, India and Bangladesh.

Apart from Asia-Pacific, followers of Islam are also spread significantly in the Middle East and North Africa, as well as in Sub-Saharan Africa. Muslim communities are also growing in Europe and America, especially in urban areas.

Statistics of the World's Largest Religions
On January 18 2023, the Statista Research Department released statistics on religion in the world. In this report, Christianity occupies the first position as the largest religion in the world. Then followed by Islam, Hinduism, then Buddhism. Although the Jewish religion (Judaism) is important because it is the basis of the religion of Prophet Abraham AS, it is only adhered to by 13 million people.
The research institute based in Washington DC, United States, Pew Research Center, projects that followers of Christianity will reach 2.9 billion in 2050. Meanwhile, Islam will reach 2.8 billion and Hinduism will reach 1.4 billion.

Jumlah ini membuat Islam sebagai agama terbesar kedua di dunia setelah Kristen.
Jumlah itu berada di setiap wilayah di dunia. Sejumlah negara di Asia-Pasifik menjadi rumah terbesar bagi para muslim. Populasi muslim terbesar di wilayah tersebut terdapat di Indonesia, Pakistan, India, dan Bangladesh.

Statistik Agama Terbesar di Dunia
Pada 18 Januari 2023 lalu, Statista Research Department merilis statistik agama di dunia. Dalam laporan tersebut, Kristen menempati posisi pertama sebagai agama terbesar di dunia. Kemudian disusul Islam, Hindu, lalu Budha. Agama Yahudi (Yudaisme) meskipun penting karena menjadi dasar dari agama Nabi Ibrahim AS, hanya dianut oleh 13 juta orang.
Lembaga riset yang berbasis di Washington DC Amerika Serikat, Pew Research Center, memproyeksikan pemeluk agama Kristen akan mencapai 2,9 miliar pada 2050. Sedangkan Islam mencapai 2,8 miliar dan Hindu sebanyak 1,4 miliar.
