The Story of the Great Journey of Isra Mi'raj
Before finding out more about the story of Isra Mi'raj, it's a good idea for you to first understand what the true meaning of Isra Mi'raj is. Yes, Isra Mi'raj consists of two words that have different meanings. The word Isra itself means traveling at night, while Mi'raj means rising or being lifted to Sidratul Muntaha. So, Isra Mi'raj is a journey undertaken by the Prophet Muhammad SAW at night to Sidratul Muntaha.
This journey is actually a "gift" given by Allah SWT to the prophet. This gift was given by Allah as a form of entertainment, because the Prophet Muhammad was tested by the loss of his loved ones. Not just one, the Prophet Muhammad lost two people he loved very much, namely his beloved wife, Khadijah, and also his uncle, Abu Talib, who was his front guard.
History of Isra Mi'raj
According to history, this one night event occurred in 621. From various hadiths, Isra was part of the journey of the prophet Muhammad SAW from Mecca to Jerusalem, which began when Muhammad SAW was in the Great Mosque, and the Angel Gabriel came to him and brought the buraq.
Buraq, which is a type of animal with white fur and has a speed above the speed of light, brought the Prophet Muhammad to the al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. The Prophet Muhammad SAW then stopped at Medina and Mount Sinai for prayer, where at God's command he was tested by Gabriel.
It was narrated by Anas ibn Malik that Muhammad SAW said: "Jibril brought me a vessel of wine, a vessel of water and a vessel of milk, and I chose milk. Jibrail said: 'You have chosen Fitrah (natural instinct).'"
In the second part of the journey, namely Mi'raj, Prophet Muhammad SAW together with Jibril shot quickly towards the 7th heaven, where he toured the seven stages of heaven, and spoke with previous prophets, such as Prophet Ibrahim As, Musa As, Yahya As, and Isa As. Muhammad SAW was then taken to Sidrat al-Muntaha, which is a sacred tree in the 7th heaven that Jibril was not permitted to pass.
According to the history of muslimwww.popbela.com/tag/islam">islam, God ordered Muhammad that Muslims should pray fifty times a day; however, Moses told Muhammad that it was very difficult for his people and urged Muhammad to ask for a reduction, until finally the prayer time was reduced becomefive times a day.
There are several different stories and interpretations of what happened during the Miʿraj, such as Ibn Abbas' version, Sufi interpretations, and modern Muslim observations. However, most of the narratives have the same elements: Muhammad SAW ascended to heaven with the angel Gabriel and met different prophets, at each level of heaven.
However, what needs to be understood is that Isra Mi'raj is one of the great signs of Allah SWT, which shows the truth of His Messenger, Muhammad. For those who choose to celebrate Isra Mi'raj, it can be marked in various ways. Some Muslims gather at local mosques to pray together, while others celebrate at home by telling children stories of Muhammad's journey and reciting prayers at night. After prayers, food was served.
That is the history and story of the journey of the Great Prophet Muhammad SAW. It amazes you, Bela.
