- Elon Musk will still be the richest person in the world towards the end of 2023. Despite experiencing many problems, Musk's wealth has actually increased throughout this year.
According to Bloomberg Billionaires Index data as of December 29 2023, Musk still tops the list of the richest people in the world with wealth of USD 232 billion or around 3,578 trillion.
Musk's achievement is quite surprising considering that he started 2023 by entering the Guinness World Records as the most money-losing person in history after his wealth shrank by USD 182 billion in 2022.
Musk's wealth continues to grow even though X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, has been abandoned by many large advertisers. X's valuation is also reportedly only half of the USD 44 billion that Musk paid.
This man born in South Africa could become richer thanks to Tesla's valuation which continues to soar. This year, Tesla's valuation almost reached USD 816 billion and succeeded in increasing Musk's wealth to almost USD 100 billion.
Musk has been richer before. Musk's wealth reached its peak in 2021, when the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX had USD 340 billion.
Apart from Musk, another billionaire who will get richer in 2023 is Mark Zuckerberg. Zuckerberg's assets this year increased from USD 45 billion to USD 130 billion, as quoted by Bloomberg, Saturday (30/12/2023).
The percentage increase in Zuckerberg's wealth is also greater than that of Musk. With this wealth, Zuckerberg will end 2023 in sixth position on the list of the world's richest people.
Zuckerberg's wealth could increase thanks to the value of Meta shares which have recovered after being battered in 2022. This year Meta's valuation skyrocketed to 172% compared to the previous year.
Apart from these two billionaires, the list of the top 10 richest people in the world is again dominated by technology bosses. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is in third place with a fortune of USD 175 billion.
Meanwhile two former Microsoft bosses, Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer, are in fourth and fifth positions with wealth of USD 141 billion and USD 131 billion respectively.
Google founding duo Larry Page and Sergey Brin are in seventh and ninth positions with assets of USD 127 billion and USD 10 billion respectively. Among them is Oracle founder Larry Ellison, who has a fortune of USD 124 billion.

- Elon Musk masih menjadi orang terkaya di dunia menjelang akhir tahun 2023. Meski mengalami banyak masalah, pundi-pundi kekayaan Musk justru semakin bertambah sepanjang tahun ini.
Menurut data Bloomberg Billionaires Index per 29 Desember 2023, Musk masih memuncaki daftar orang terkaya di dunia dengan kekayaan sebesar USD 232 miliar atau sekitar 3.578 triliun.
Pencapaian Musk cukup mengejutkan mengingat ia memulai tahun 2023 dengan masuk Guinness World Records sebagai orang paling tekor sepanjang sejarah setelah hartanya menyusut USD 182 miliar pada tahun 2022.
Kekayaan Musk terus tumbuh meski X, platform media sosial yang sebelumnya bernama Twitter, ditinggal banyak pengiklan besar. Valuasi X juga kabarnya tinggal setengah dari USD 44 miliar yang dibayarkan Musk.
Pria kelahiran Afrika Selatan ini bisa jadi lebih kaya berkat valuasi Tesla yang terus melambung. Tahun ini valuasi Tesla hampir mencapai USD 816 miliar dan berhasil menggenjot kekayaan Musk hingga hampir USD 100 miliar.
Musk pernah lebih kaya lagi sebelumnya. Kekayaan Musk mencapai puncaknya pada tahun 2021, saat CEO Tesla dan SpaceX itu memiliki USD 340 miliar.
Selain Musk, miliarder lainnya yang makin kaya di tahun 2023 adalah Mark Zuckerberg. Harta Zuckerberg tahun ini bertambah dari USD 45 miliar menjadi USD 130 miliar, seperti dikutip dari Bloomberg, Sabtu (30/12/2023).
Persentase lonjakan kekayaan Zuckerberg juga lebih besar ketimbang Musk. Dengan kekayaan tersebut, Zuckerberg menutup tahun 2023 di posisi keenam di daftar orang terkaya sedunia.
Kekayaan Zuckerberg bisa bertambah berkat nilai saham Meta yang sudah pulih setelah sempat babak belur di tahun 2022. Tahun ini valuasi Meta meroket hingga 172% dibandingkan tahun sebelumnya.
Selain dua miliarder tersebut, daftar 10 teratas orang terkaya di dunia kembali didominasi bos teknologi. Pendiri Amazon Jeff Bezos berada di peringkat tiga dengan kekayaan USD 175 miliar.
Sementara itu dua mantan bos Microsoft, Bill Gates dan Steve Ballmer, berada di posisi empat dan lima dengan kekayaan masing-masing sebesar USD 141 miliar dan USD 131 miliar.
Duo pendiri Google Larry Page dan Sergey Brin berada di posisi tujuh dan sembilan dengan kekayaan masing-masing sebesar USD 127 miliar dan USD 10 miliar. Di antara mereka ada pendiri Oracle Larry Ellison yang memiliki kekayaan USD 124 miliar.
