HALU FELT TO BE A SCIENCE EXPERT

There are some people who, because every time they associate with scientists, are struck by a sickness, namely that they feel that by doing so they can claim to be part of the group of scientists.
He may think that religious knowledge is enough to be achieved by diligently collecting articles and lectures from preachers and then he can immediately become an ustadz. He thought that by diligently sharing or creating statuses with hadith attached, his conversations always about religious matters, he could rise to the level of being a Muslim scholar.
In fact, the simple logic is, even if a person is with a doctor all the time, the conversations are always on the topic of medicine and health, he cannot immediately become a doctor.
He is still a nurse if his status is that of a nurse, or he is still a cleaning service at the hospital where he works without ever being a doctor for a moment, even though he is the person who cleans the doctor's office every day.
A construction worker is still a worker. He will know very well not to equate his status with the engineers who are the architects of the projects on which he works. Even though he might gather and eat together with the engineers every day.
And so it goes. Because of course to become a doctor, engineer and the like, there is a school, there is a process, there are levels of knowledge that must be studied step by step.
So it's strange and surprising if someone thinks that to become an expert in the field of religion, someone doesn't have to go through the proper education and process. It is enough to have a hobby of talking and writing about religion, friends with ulama, and you can suddenly turn into a fatwa expert.
If this happens a lot now, it doesn't show anything other than how low our appreciation for religious knowledge is. And the reason is none other than because we place this world as more important than the hereafter.
We must know that a kiyai or true scholar, before he reaches the position we see, has gone through a process of nyantri and has been a seeker of knowledge for many years. Do you know what that means?
This means that he was boiled with manners before he could devour knowledge. And among the contents of that adab are: Santri are educated to feel empty, low and have nothing in front of their knowledge and experts.
He once lived almost like a slave, submissive and humiliating before the word of Allah, the words of the Prophet and the advice of the prophet's heirs.
It was this enthusiasm that he brought with him when he began to practice his knowledge. If then we find one or two different cases, the existence of uncivilized and destructive scientists, that is an exception that will always exist in every thing and situation. In fact, it could even be that he is a fake science expert who never went through the proper process.
So you can see the reality now, when those who have never gone through the process of learning, who have never submitted and humbled themselves to knowledge, then suddenly feel entitled to hold the "legacy of glory" of these prophets, what will definitely happen is that their attitude appears to be arrogant or loosecontrol.
So this arrogant attitude is what is most visible in people like this, he will even place knowledgeable people at his level or maybe even lower. At a minimum, he acts familiarly, which actually has the potential to lower the position of scientific experts who should be glorified.
Not infrequently we find someone calling a kiyai or ustadz "akhi", or "friend" or "comrade" to show the impression that he is a close person on the same level as the ustadz.
Or what's worse, there are those who just call names, to show that the cleric they are calling is just a villager and their playmate.
Of course there's nothing wrong with a close call, especially if it's to lighten the mood or make the interaction less awkward. But if by that you intend or have the potential to denigrate knowledge and experts, then clearly this is an uncivilized attitude.

HALU MERASA JADI AHLI ILMU

Ada sebagian orang karena setiap waktu bergaulnya dengan ahli ilmu, dia kemudian tertimpa satu penyakit halu, yakni merasa kalau dengan itu dia bisa mendaku sebagai bagian dari golongan ahli ilmu.
Dia mungkin berpikir bahwa ilmu agama itu cukup diraih dengan rajin mengkoleksi artikel dan ceramah para mubaligh lalu dia pun serta merta bisa menjadi ustadz. Dia mengira, dengan rajin menshare atau membuat status yang ditempeli hadits, obrolannya juga selalu seputar masalah agama, dia bisa naik ke level menjadi alim ulama.
Padahal logika sederhananya, meski seseorang itu setiap waktu membersamai dokter, obrolannya selalu bertema obat dan kesehatan, tak bisa serta merta dia bisa berubah menjadi dokter.
Dia tetaplah perawat jika memang statusnya sebagai perawat, atau dia tetaplah cleaning servis di rumah sakit tempat ia bekerja tanpa pernah menjadi dokter sekejap pun, meski dia adalah orang yang tiap hari membersihkan ruang kerja dokter.
Seorang kuli bangunan tetaplah kuli. Dia akan sangat tahu diri tidak menyamakan statusnya dengan para insinyur yang menjadi arsitek dari proyek tempat ia bekerja. Meski boleh jadi dia tiap hari ngumpul dan makan bersama dengan para insinyur.
Begitulah seterusnya. Karena tentu untuk menjadi dokter, insinyur dan yang semisal, itu ada sekolahnya, ada prosesnya, ada jenjang mengunyah ilmu yang harus dilahap tahap demi tahap.
Maka aneh bin ajaib kalau ada yang mengira untuk menjadi ahli ilmu di bidang agama itu, seseorang tidak harus berproses dan menempuh pendidikan yang seharusnya. Cukuplah dengan modal hobi bicara dan menulis tentang agama, teman bergaulnya para ulama, maka bisa mendadak berubah menjadi ahli fatwa.
Jika memang hal ini banyak terjadi sekarang, tidaklah hal tersebut menunjukkan kecuali betapa rendahnya penghargaan kita kepada ilmu agama. Dan sebabnya, tidak lain tidak bukan karena kita menempatkan dunia lebih penting dari akhirat.
Kita harus tahu, seorang kiyai atau ahli ilmu sejati, sebelum ia mencapai kedudukannya seperti yang kita lihat, ia telah melalui sebuah proses nyantri dan menjadi penunut ilmu selama bertahun-tahun. Tahu itu artinya apa ?
Maknanya dia pernah digodok dengan adab sebelum bisa melahap ilmu. Dan diantara muatan adab itu adalah :
Santri dididik untuk merasa kosong, rendah dan tidak punya apa-apa di hadapan ilmu dan ahlinya.
Ia pernah hidup nyaris seperti seorang budak, tunduk dan menghina di hadapan firman Allah, sabda-sabda Nabi dan petuah para pewaris nabi.
Semangat itulah yang kemudian dibawanya ketika ia telah mulai mengamalkan ilmunya. Jika kemudian kita temukan satu dua kasus yang berbeda, adanya ahli ilmu yang tak beradab dan merusak, itu adalah pengecualian yang akan selalu ada dalam setiap hal dan keadaan. Bahkan bisa jadi sebenarnya, dia adalah ahli ilmu gadungan yang tak pernah melalui proses yang seharusnya.
Maka bisa dilihat kenyataannya saat ini, ketika mereka - mereka yang tidak pernah melalui proses berguru, yang tak pernah tunduk dan merendah untuk ilmu, lalu tiba-tiba merasa berhak memegang “warisan kemuliaan” para nabi ini, sudah pasti yang akan terjadi adalah nampaknya sikap arogan alias lepas kendali.
Sehingga sikap sombong inilah yang paling nampak pada orang-orang seperti ini, ia bahkan akan menempatkan orang berilmu selevel dengannya atau bahkan bisa jadi lebih rendah lagi. Minimalnya bersikap sok akrab yang justru itu sangat berpotensi merendahkan kedudukan para ahli ilmu yang seharusnya ia muliakan.
Tak jarang kita temukan ada yang memanggil kiyai atau ustadz dengan panggilan “akhi”, atau “teman” atau “kawan” untuk menunjukkan kesan kalau dia itu orang dekat yang selevel dengan si ustadz.
Atau yang lebih parah lagi ada yang memanggil nama saja, untuk menunjukkan bahwa ulama yang dipanggilnya hanyalah orang kampung dan teman sepermainannya.
Tentu tidak ada yang salah dengan panggilan akrab, terlebih jika itu untuk mencairkan suasana atau menjadikan interaksi tidak terlalu kaku. Tapi jika dengan itu anda berniat atau berpotensi merendahkan ilmu dan ahlinya, maka jelas hal tersebut adalah sikap yang tidak beradab.
