Viral Pajero Sport with strobe asking for a road on the toll road, Calya refuses to step aside



Violations on toll roads are still rife, from using additional lighting accessories to not understanding the function of the far right lane. Recently, the Pajero Sport car went viral with a strobe following Calya, who was walking statically in the far right lane. 

The video was uploaded on the Instagram account @dashcamindonesia. In the video clip, the black Pajero Sport wears strobe light accessories. The car was in the far right lane about to overtake Calya who was in front of him. 

The oncoming Calya car remained in the overtaking lane even though the Pajero Sport car had been pushed over by the driver. As a result, the Pajero Sport car overtook from the left, then entered the far right lane again.

This phenomenon sparked debate on social media. Some of them said that both cars made mistakes. 

"Lane Hogger meets Lenong's car, it's a good match, if one bump calls backing, the live tiktok calls netizens," wrote the account @rangre ***

"2 of them are wrong. Pajero Sport pretends to have a strobe, yet Calya, who is in front, loves to lane hog," said @vit **

So what is the response from driving safety practitioners? 

"In my opinion, both are wrong, the one using the strobe violates the rules but if the person concerned is not an officer, yes. While those who stay on the right lane of the road become lane hoggers," said Director of Training Safety Defensive Consultant (SDCI), Sony Susmana to detikcom, Tuesday ( 27/6/2023). 

Sony added that Pajero Sport drivers might have an emergency need. It's better for motorists who see other car drivers want to overtake, it's better to be given space. 

"What's wrong if the right lane is opened and the car behind is given way. So don't feel that you are allowed to judge or be a judge for other drivers just for using a strobe. Even if there are violations committed by other drivers, the officer still has the right to take action," said Sony. 

"As long as it's not harmed, it's not disturbing and it's not endangering, give it or just open up space... after all, the highway belongs to the community and is used for everyone. Open it and give way to those who want to overtake," he continued. 

This lane hogger action can interfere with other vehicles that want to overtake. Because the car moves at a static speed, even though the right lane is only used to overtake. 

Please note, the right lane is only used to overtake other vehicles. However, after passing other cars, it is advisable to return to the middle or left lane of the toll road. 

Jasa Marga as the toll road manager often advises that after successfully passing the car, it is better to return to the middle or left lane. This lane hogger action can trigger a pile-up collision. 

"If you want to overtake, use the right lane. After overtaking, return to the left lane," Jasa Marga advised on its social media. 

"Apart from disrupting the speed of other vehicles that want to overtake, this lane hogger action also triggers successive accidents," he added. 

On the other hand, lane hogger action can trigger other drivers' emotions. The danger is if the vehicle has succeeded in overtaking, it immediately responds with a sudden brake. 

"Constantly taking the right lane, and not giving space for other vehicles to overtake can cause other drivers' emotions, opening space for other drivers to overtake from the left and then respond by directly cutting to the right which can result in sudden braking. and it has the potential to cause a collision with the vehicle behind it due to lack of concentration, lack of anticipation due to insufficient safety distance, and this can be followed by the vehicle behind it experiencing the same thing which results in a consecutive collision," explained the Observer for Transportation andLaw, Budiyanto. 

Meanwhile, the use of strobes or rotators is only given to officers, not civilian vehicles or private property. This is stated in Law Number 22 of 2009 article 59. Described in that article, for certain purposes vehicles can be equipped with signal lights or sirens with red, blue and yellow colors. Furthermore, in Article 59 paragraph 5, it is explained in more detail about the designation of each color of the rotator lights or sirens as follows. 

a. blue signal lights and sirens are used for Motorized Vehicles of the Indonesian National Police;

b. red signal lights and sirens are used for motorized vehicles for prisoners, Indonesian National Armed Forces escorts, firefighters, ambulances, red cross, rescue, and corpses; And

c. Yellow signal lights without sirens are used for motorized vehicles to patrol toll roads, monitor traffic and road transportation facilities and infrastructure, maintain and clean public facilities, tow vehicles, and transport special goods. 



Viral Pajero Sport Berstrobo Minta Jalan di Tol, Calya Ogah Minggir

Pelanggaran di jalan tol masih marak terjadi, dari memakai aksesori lampu tambahan hingga tidak paham dengan fungsi lajur paling kanan. Baru-baru ini viral mobil Pajero Sport dengan strobo membuntuti Calya yang sedang berjalan statis di lajur paling kanan.

Video tersebut diunggah dalam akun instagram @dashcamindonesia. Dalam potongan klip video, mobil Pajero Sport warna hitam memakai pernak-pernik lampu strobo. Mobil itu berada di lajur paling kanan hendak mendahului Calya yang berada di depannya.

Pemobil Calya yang sedang melaju itu tetap berada di lajur mendahului kendati sudah dipepet oleh pemobil Pajero Sport. Walhasil pemobil Pajero Sport itu menyalip dari sebelah kiri, lalu masuk lagi ke lajur paling kanan.

Fenomena ini memicu perdebatan di media sosial. Beberapa di antaranya bilang kedua mobil itu sama-sama melakukan kesalahan.

Lantas bagaimana tanggapan dari praktisi keselamatan berkendara?

"Menurut saya dua-duanya salah, yang pakai strobo melanggar aturan tapi kalau yang bersangkutan bukan petugas ya. Sementara yang stay di lajur kanan jalan menjadi lane hogger," kata Director Training Safety Defensive Consultant (SDCI), Sony Susmana kepada detikcom, Selasa (27/6/2023).

Sony menambahkan pemobil Pajero Sport mungkin punya kepentingan darurat. Sebaiknya bagi pengendara yang melihat pemobil lain ingin mendahului, lebih baik diberikan ruang.

"Salahnya apa kalau lajur kanan dibuka dan mobil di belakangnya dikasih jalan. Jadi jangan merasa boleh menghakimi atau menjadi hakim bagi pengemudi lain hanya karena memakai strobo. Pun kalau ada pelanggaran yang dilakukan pengemudi lain, tetap yang berhak menindak adalah petugas," kata Sony.

"Selama tidak dirugikan, tidak mengganggu dan tidak membahayakan, kasih atau buka aja space... toh jalan raya milik bersama dan digunakan untuk bersama-sama. Buka dan kasih jalan untuk mereka yang ingin mendahului," sambung dia lagi.

Tindakan lane hogger ini bisa mengganggu kendaraan lain yang ingin mendahului. Sebab mobil bergerak dalam kecepatan statis, padahal lajur kanan hanya digunakan untuk mendahului.

Perlu diketahui, lajur kanan hanya digunakan untuk mendahului kendaraan lain. Namun setelah melewati mobil lain disarankan kembali ke lajur tengah atau kiri tol.

Jasa Marga sebagai pengelola tol kerap mengimbau setelah berhasil melewati mobil sebaiknya kembali ke lajur tengah atau kiri. Tindakan lane hogger ini bisa memicu tabrakan beruntun.

"Jika Kamu ingin mendahului, gunakan lajur kanan. Setelah selesai mendahului, kembali ke lajur kiri," imbau Jasa Marga dalam sosial medianya.

"Selain mengganggu laju kendaraan lain yang ingin mendahului, tindakan lane hogger ini juga memicu terjadinya kecelakaan beruntun," tambahnya lagi.

Di sisi lain, aksi lane hogger bisa memantik emosi pengemudi lain. Bahayanya jika kendaraan sudah berhasil menyalip, langsung membalas dengan rem mendadak.

"Mengambil lajur kanan secara konstan, dan tidak memberikan ruang kendaraan lain untuk mendahului dapat menimbulkan emosi pengemudi yang lain, membuka ruang pengemudi lain untuk menyalip dari kiri kemudian dibalas dengan langsung memotong ke kanan yang dapat berakibat terjadi pengeremen mendadak dan sangat berpotensi menimbulkan benturan kendaraan di belakangnya karena kurang konsentrasi, kurang antisipatif karena jarak aman yang tidak memadai, dan ini akan dapat disusul kendaraan di belakangnya mengalami hal serupa akhirnya terjadi tabrakan beruntun," jelas Pemerhati Transportasi dan Hukum, Budiyanto.

Sementara itu, penggunaan strobo atau rotator hanya diberikan untuk petugas, bukan kendaraan warga sipil atau milik pribadi. Hal itu, tertuang dalam Undang-Undang Nomor 22 tahun 2009 pasal 59. Dijelaskan dalam pasal itu, untuk kepentingan tertentu kendaraan dapat dilengkapi dengan lampu isyarat atau sirine dengan warna merah, biru, dan kuning. Lebih lanjut dalam pasal 59 ayat 5 dijelaskan lebih detail soal peruntukkan dari masing-masing warna lampu rotator atau sirine seperti berikut.

a. lampu isyarat warna biru dan sirene digunakan untuk Kendaraan Bermotor petugas Kepolisian Negara Republik Indonesia;

b. lampu isyarat warna merah dan sirene digunakan untuk Kendaraan Bermotor tahanan, pengawalan Tentara Nasional Indonesia, pemadam kebakaran, ambulans, palang merah, rescue, dan jenazah; dan

c. lampu isyarat warna kuning tanpa sirene digunakan untuk Kendaraan Bermotor patroli jalan tol, pengawasan sarana dan Prasarana Lalu Lintas dan Angkutan Jalan, perawatan dan pembersihan fasilitas umum, menderek Kendaraan, dan angkutan barang khusus.
