Abu Bakar Shidiq's Pearl of Advice

أيها الناس فإني قد وليت عليكم ولست بخيركم فإن أحسنت فأعينوني وإن أسأت فقوموني
"O people, I have been appointed as your leader even though I am not the best person among you. So if I do good, help me. But if I do bad things, make me straight.”[1]
إن أقواكم عندي الضعيف حتى آخذ له بحقه، وإن أضعفكم عندي القوي حتى آخذ منه الحق .
"The strong person among you becomes weak before me so that I can take rights from him, and the weak person among you becomes strong before me so that I can fulfill his rights."[2]
لا يدع قوم الجهاد في سبيل الله إلا ضربهم الله بالذل
"There is not a people leave jihad in the way of Allah unless Allah will inflict humiliation on them."[3]

“O Allah, show me the truth is true, and give me the ability to follow it. Show me what is wrong is wrong, and give me the ability to stay away from it.”[4]
إذا فاتك خير فأدركه وإن أدركك فاسبقه
"If you lose a good deed, then look for it, if you have found it, then hasten (in doing it)."[5]
أكيس الكيْس التقوى، وأحمق الحَمَق الفجور
"Verily, the most intelligent person is the pious and the stupidest person is the one who always commits immorality."[6]

“O people, if you worship Muhammad, Muhammad has actually died. But if you worship Allah, then surely He is alive and will never die.”[7]

"Let none of you underestimate any of the Muslims, because even a small / lowly Muslim has a great position in the sight of Allah."[8]
احرص على الموت توهب لك الحياة
"Seek death (with jihad) then you will be given life (noble)."[9]
الموت أهون ما قبله، وأشد ما بعده
“Whatever (of the form of calamity) existed before death is far lighter. And something that exists after death, it is much heavier than death.”[10]
أصلح نفسك يصلح لك الناس
"Improve yourself, then humans will be good to you."[11]
وإنها لا تقبل نافلة حتى تؤدى الفريضة
"Indeed, sunnah worship will not be accepted, until the obligatory worship is performed."[12]
حق لميزان يوضع فيه الحق أن يكون ثقيلا، وحق لميزان يوضع فيه الباطل أن يكون خفيفا
"If the scale of truth is placed on it, it will become heavy, and if the scale is placed on evil, then it will become light."[13]
صنائع المعروف تقي مصارع السوء
"Good deeds, will prevent someone from being overwritten by bad things suddenly."[14]
بعده نار ولا شر في شر بعده الجنة
“There is no good at all if the end is hell, and no bad at all
if the end can reach heaven.”[15]
لوددت اني شعرة في جنب عبد مؤمن
"I wish that I were just a hair that grows on the body of a believer."[16]
خير الخصلتين لك أبغضهما إليك
"If there are two good choices for you, the best is the one you don't like."[17]
كل امرئ مصبح في أهله … والموت أدنى من شراك نعله
"Everyone wakes up in the morning with his family (in a state of negligence)... Even though death is even closer than the rope of his sandal."[18]
أطوع الناس لله أشدهم بغضا لمعصيته
"The people who obey Allah the most are the people who hate the things that contain disobedience to Allah."[19]

Mutiara Nasehat Abu Bakar Shidiq

أيها الناس فإني قد وليت عليكم ولست بخيركم فإن أحسنت فأعينوني وإن أسأت فقوموني
“Wahai manusia, aku telah diangkat sebagai pemimpin kalian padahal aku bukan orang terbaik di antara kalian. Maka jika aku berbuat baik, bantulah aku. Tapi jika aku berbuat keburukan, luruskan aku.”[1]
إن أقواكم عندي الضعيف حتى آخذ له بحقه، وإن أضعفكم عندي القوي حتى آخذ منه الحق .
“Orang kuat di antara kalian menjadi lemah di hadapanku agar aku ambil hak darinya, dan orang yang lemah di antara kalian menjadi kuat di hadapanku agar aku dapat penuhi haknya.”[2
لا يدع قوم الجهاد في سبيل الله إلا ضربهم الله بالذل
“Tidaklah suatu kaum meninggalkan jihad di jalan Allah kecuali Allah akan menimpakan kehinaan kepada mereka.”[3]
اللهم أرني الحق حقا وارزقنى اتباعه وأرني الباطل باطلا وارزقنى اجتنابه
“Ya Allah, nampakkan kepadaku kebenaran itu adalah benar, dan berikan aku kemampuan untuk mengikutinya. Nampakkan kepadaku yang batil itu adalah batil, dan berikan aku kemampuan untuk menjauhinya.”[4]
إذا فاتك خير فأدركه وإن أدركك فاسبقه
“Jika engkau kehilangan sebuah amal kebaikan, maka carilah, jika engkau telah menemukannya, maka bersegeralah (dalam mengerjakannya).”[5]
أكيس الكيْس التقوى، وأحمق الحَمَق الفجور
“Sesungguhnya orang yang paling cerdas adalah yang bertaqwa dan orang yang paling bodoh adalah yang selalu berbuat maksiat.”[6]
أيها الناس، إنه من كان يعبد محمدا فإن محمدا قد مات، ومن كان يعبد الله فإن الله حي لا يموت
“Wahai manusia sekalian, jika kalian menyembah Muhammad, sesungguhnya Muhammad telah wafat. Tapi jika kalian menyembah Allah, maka sesungguhnya Dia maha hidup dan tidak akan pernah mati.”[7]
لا يحقرن أحد أحدا من المسلمين فإن صغير المسلمين عند الله كبير
“Janganlah ada dari kalian meremehkan seorang pun dari kaum muslimin, karena seorang muslim yang kecil / rendah sekalipun, memiliki kedudukan agung di sisi Allah.”[8]
احرص على الموت توهب لك الحياة
“Carilah kematian (dengan berjihad) maka engkau akan diberi kehidupan (yang mulia).”[9]
الموت أهون ما قبله، وأشد ما بعده
“Apapun (dari bentuk musibah) yang ada sebelum kematian itu jauh lebih ringan. Dan sesuatu yang ada setelah kematian, itu jauh lebih berat daripada kematian.”[10]
أصلح نفسك يصلح لك الناس
“Perbaiki dirimu, maka manusia akan baik kepadamu.”[11]
وإنها لا تقبل نافلة حتى تؤدى الفريضة
“Sesungguhnya tidak akan diterima ibadah sunnah, hingga ditunaikannya ibadah wajib.”[12]
حق لميزان يوضع فيه الحق أن يكون ثقيلا، وحق لميزان يوضع فيه الباطل أن يكون خفيفا
“Timbangan kebenaran jika diletakkan padanya kebenaran, maka ia akan menjadi berat, dan timbangan itu jika diletakkan kebatilan, maka ia akan menjadi ringan.”[13]
صنائع المعروف تقي مصارع السوء
“Perbuatan-perbuatan baik, akan mencegah seseorang dari ditimpa keburukan secara tiba-tiba.”[14]
لا خير في خير بعده نار ولا شر في شر بعده الجنة
“Tidak ada kebaikan sedikitpun jika akhirnya adalah neraka, dan tidak ada keburukan sedikitpun
jika ujungnya bisa meraih syurga.”[15]
لوددت اني شعرة في جنب عبد مؤمن
“Aku berharap seandainya diriku ini hanyalah selembar rambut yang tumbuh di tubuh seorang mukmin.”[16]
خير الخصلتين لك أبغضهما إليك
“Bila ada dua kebaikan yang menjadi pilihan untuk dirimu, yang terbaik adalah yang engkau tidak menyukainya.”[17]
كل امرئ مصبح في أهله … والموت أدنى من شراك نعله
“Setiap orang bangun di pagi hari bersama keluarganya (dalam kondisi lalai)... Padahal kematian bahkan lebih dekat dari tali sendalnya.”[18]
أطوع الناس لله أشدهم بغضا لمعصيته
“Manusia yang paling ta’at kepada Allah adalah orang yang paling benci kepada perkara yang mengandung kemaksiatan kepada Allah.”[19]
