ZUBAIDA; MUSLIMAH CARVING HISTORY

Who would not know the caliph who was just, polite, pious, and whose name shone the most from the Abasiyah dynasty, Harun ar Rashid Rahimahullah. Where in his time, the Muslims had reached a peak of glory and prosperity that was evenly distributed throughout the caliphate.
The Islamic Daulah at that time even became the center of world civilization and the main mecca of science.
The famous Arabic proverb says: "Wara'a kulla rajulin adhim imraatun." Which later was popularized by western people with the expression: "There is always a tough woman behind a great man."
Yes, that's how it is, almost everyone agrees with this pearl of wisdom, that behind great men there are always great women who support them.
It turned out that this was the case with this great Abasid caliph, Harun ar Rasyid. Not many know that there are two extraordinary female figures behind all her success in running the government.
Which, it is almost impossible for Aaron to write great works without the support and support from both of them. Who are they ? The first is the mother of the Caliph himself, namely al Khaizuran and the second is his beloved wife, Zubaidah bint Ja'far bin al Mansur Rahimahullah ta'ala.
In this article, we will discuss a bit of the biography of the figure of Zubaidah, a wife who faithfully accompanies her husband up the ladder of achievement and has made extraordinary services for Islam and Muslims.
Zubaidah is a Muslim woman who is known for her shalihahan, very intelligent and loves science. He had memorized the Koran since childhood and liked to discuss fiqh issues with his servants. Qadhi Khalkan said:
God bless you
"Zubaidah has 100 female servants who all memorize the Qur'an, she rotates them to complete one tenth of the mushaf. So that every day it sounded like a bee buzzing from his palace.”[1]
He also often invited scholars, writers and linguists to his court. So that he can listen to the lessons and take advantage of the discussion among these experts. When describing his figure, al Imam Ibn Kathir Rahimahullah said:
كانت من الجمال والمال والخير والديانة على جانب
"She is a beautiful, wealthy, noble woman and at the same time very good at her religion."[2]
Zubaidah real name is Ammah Aziz. But almost no one knows him except by the name Zubaidah which is the nickname of his father, the second Abasid caliph, Ja'far al Mansur.
Al Mansur said he really loved his grandson. He often played around and joked about the little "Ammah Aziz". One day, because al Mansur was very impressed with him, he said in praise of him:
إنما أنت زبيدة
"Indeed you are Zubaidah (white like foam)."[3]
Charity expert
When she married Harun ar rashid, guests were invited from all over the country. Then it was distributed to the invited guests in large quantities, until it was said that there was no marriage in Islam like theirs.[4]
Imam Khatib al-Baghdadi said:
أنها حجت، فبلغت نفقتها في ستين يوما أربعة وخمسين ألف ألف درهم
“He once made a pilgrimage, and in just 60 days his charity amounted to 54,000,000 dirhams (4.3 trillion)[5]
Imam Ibn Kathir Rahimahullah also said:
God bless you
He is very fond of giving alms and endowments and is busy with very many charities."[6]
In his time, Zubaidah built several housing estates which he then donated to the people in several areas of the Islamic caliphate. He was also involved in waqf of wells, repairing roads and building many mosques.
He was also involved in funding for the construction of dams for irrigation, and several bridges in the areas of the Hijaz, Syria, and Baghdad. And he is mentioned as the party behind the very legendary Baitul Wisdom.
A library as well as a place for scientific research with millions of books and equipment to support science and also the best facilities of its time.
Ibn Jubair, a famous traveler from Andalusia, when he performed the pilgrimage, said:
God bless you
"As for the existence of factories, baths and water canals that stretch from Baghdad to the city of Mecca, these are the remains of Zubaidah bint Ja'far al Mansur."[7]
Zubaidah well
In Makkah to this day there is a well called the Zubaidah well. This is a large reservoir of water channels which is a waqf of Sayidah Zubaidah to provide sufficient water for pilgrims, as well as residents of Mecca and its surroundings. It is said that the cost of cultivation reached 1.7 million dinars, equivalent to 6.4 trillion.
For more than 1000 years, this waqf of water has contributed greatly to the benefits of pilgrims as well as residents of Mecca and its surroundings. And even though today this waterway is no longer used, in Saudi Arabia there is still a special office that deals with waqf issues, namely the Zubaidah and Aziziyah Administration offices.[8]
After his death
Al Imam Abdullah bin Mubarak Rahimahullah narrates:
رأيت زبيدة في المنام، فقلت: ما فعل الله بك؟ فقالت: غفر لي في أول معول ضرب في طريق مكة.
"I saw Zubaidah in sleep. So I asked him:' What has Allah done for you?
