Jokowi: Indonesia Has the Opportunity to Become a Developed Country in 13 Years, Don't Be Wrong in Choosing Leaders
President Joko Widodo said that Indonesia has the opportunity to become a developed country in the next 13 years.
This was stated by Jokowi when giving the peak of the People's Consultation (Musra) which was held at Istora Senayan, Central Jakarta, Sunday (14/5/2023).
"There is an opportunity for us to become a developed country in the next 13 years," Jokowi said.
Jokowi made this statement based on research by experts from within and outside the country. Because, around 2030, Indonesia will experience a demographic bonus.
“Our chance is only in 13 years. Our demographic bonus will appear in the 2030s," said Jokowi.
"In the history of the civilizations of the countries that I have seen, there is indeed only one chance," Jokowi said.
Because of this, Jokowi reminded the public not to choose the wrong leader in the 2024 election.
He said, once the people choose the wrong leader, Indonesia's opportunity to become a developed country will be lost.
"Once we can't take advantage of these 13 years, there is such a thing as a demographic bonus and we can't take advantage of…," Jokowi said.
Jokowi paused for a moment then continued.
"We will continue to be a developing country," Jokowi said.
"Therefore, choosing a leader in 2024 is very crucial, it must be precise and correct. I said back and forth, don't get messy," Jokowi said.
During the event, the names of the presidential and vice presidential candidates for the 2024 presidential election based on the Musra results were handed over to Jokowi by a number of volunteers.
The Chairman of the Barus Panel Musra Committee accompanied by the Chairman of the Steering Committee Andi Gani Nena Wea and the person in charge of the Musra Budi Arie Setiadi, along with the staff handed over the results of the Musra directly to President Jokowi.
Jokowi will determine one of the three names of presidential candidates who will be supported based on the results of the Musra of a number of volunteer organizations.
The three names include the PDI-P presidential candidate who is also Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo, Minister of Defense who is also chairman of the Gerindra Party Prabowo Subianto, and Coordinating Minister (Menko) for the Economy who is also chairman of the Golkar Party Airlangga Hartarto.
A number of figures were also proposed as vice presidential candidates and handed over to President Jokowi at the peak of this Musra event.
They include the Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law and Security (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD, Chief of Presidential Staff (KSP) Moeldoko, and Minister of Creative Economy Tourism (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno.

Presiden Joko Widodo mengatakan bahwa Indonesia berpeluang menjadi negara maju pada 13 tahun ke depan.
Hal itu diungkapkan Jokowi saat memberikan sambutan puncak Musyawarah Rakyat (Musra) di yang digelar di Istora Senayan, Jakarta Pusat, Minggu (14/5/2023).
“Peluang kita menjadi negara maju itu ada dalam 13 tahun ke depan,” kata Jokowi.
Pernyataan itu diungkapkan Jokowi berangkat dari penelitian pakar dari dalam dan luar negeri. Sebab, pada sekitar tahun 2030, Indonesia akan mengalami bonus demografi.
“Kesempatan kita hanya ada di 13 tahun. Bonus demografi kita akan muncul pada 2030-an,” ucap Jokowi.
“Dalam sejarah peradaban negara-negara yang saya lihat, memang kesempatan hanya sekali,” kata Jokowi.
Karena itu, Jokowi mengingatkan agar masyarakat tidak salah memilih pemimpin pada Pemilu 2024.
Dia mengatakan, begitu masyarakat keliru memilih pemimpin, maka kesempatan Indonesia menjadi negara maju akan hilang.
“Begitu kita tidak bisa memanfaatkan waktu 13 tahun ini, ada yang namanya bonus demografis dan kita tidak bisa memanfaatkan…,” kata Jokowi.
Jokowi diam sejenak kemudian melanjutkan.
“Kita akan menjadi negara berkembang terus,” kata Jokowi.
“Oleh sebab itu, memilih pemimpin pada 2024 sangat krusial penting sekali, harus tepat dan benar. Saya bolak-balik menyampaikan, jangan grusah-grusuh,” ucap Jokowi.
Dalam acara itu, nama capres dan cawapres untuk Pilpres 2024 berdasarkan hasil Musra oleh sejumlah relawan diserahkan ke Jokowi.
Ketua Panitia Musra Panel Barus ditemani Ketua Dewan Pengarah Andi Gani Nena Wea dan Penanggung Jawab Musra Budi Arie Setiadi, berserta jajaran menyerahkan langsung hasil Musra tersebut kepada Presiden Jokowi.
Jokowi bakal menentukan satu dari tiga nama bakal capres yang akan didukung berdasarkan hasil Musra sejumlah organisasi relawan.
Ketiga nama itu antara lain, bakal capres PDI-P yang juga Gubernur Jawa Tengah Ganjar Pranowo, Menteri Pertahanan sekaligus Ketua Umum Partai Gerindra Prabowo Subianto, dan Menteri Koordinator (Menko) Bidang Perekonomian yang juga Ketua Umum Partai Golkar Airlangga Hartarto.
Sejumlah tokoh juga diusulkan sebagai cawapres dan diserahkan kepada Presiden Jokowi dalam puncak acara Musra ini.
Mereka di antaranya adalah Menteri Koordinator Bidang Politik, Hukum, dan Keamanan (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD, Kepala Staf Kepresidenan (KSP) Moeldoko, dan Menteri Pariwisata Ekonomi Kreatif (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno.
