Wayan Koster Hopes FIFA Aborts Israel from the U-20 World Cup

Wayan Koster Hopes FIFA Aborts Israel from the U-20 World Cup

The Governor of Bali, I Wayan Koster, hopes that FIFA will expel the Israel National Team from the 2023 U-20 World Cup. He asked the people of Bali to pray for this.

Indonesia has been canceled from hosting the 2023 U-20 World Cup. This decision was taken by FIFA following the current situation in Indonesia.

The presence of the Israeli national team at the U-20 World Cup caused a wave of rejection. One of them came from Koster, who sent a letter to Kemenpora regarding his rejection of Israel.

I Wayan Koster rejected Israel because he was considered to have colonized Palestine. Israel's presence is also feared to threaten security in Bali.

FIFA's decision to cancel Indonesia's host status regretted Koster. The PDI Perjuangan politician said that FIFA should act fairly by imposing sanctions on Israel.

"I invite the people of Bali to pray together so that FIFA will be moved to continue to act fairly by eliminating the Israeli national team in the FIFA U-20 World Championship," said Koster, quoted from detikBali.

"Similar to his attitude when eliminating the Russian national team at the 2022 FIFA World Championships in Qatar," he said.

Previously, the U-20 World Cup was scheduled to take place in six provinces in Indonesia, namely DKI Jakarta, South Sumatra, West Java, Central Java, East Java and Bali, on 20 May-11 June 2023.

FIFA has yet to announce a new replacement host for Indonesia. Argentina, Qatar and Peru are reportedly interested in becoming the new hosts for the 2023 U-20 World Cup.
