Visiting SBY, A Number of Retired TNI-Polri Claimed to Convey Support for Anies-AHY

No less than 80 retired TNI-Polri visited the residence of the sixth President of the Republic of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) in Cikeas, Bogor, West Java, Saturday (1/4/2023).

They are claimed to have conveyed their support for Anies Baswedan and Democratic Party General Chair Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) to contest the 2024 Presidential Election.

"We agree that now the pair Anies and AHY are the best. We want to move forward together with Anies and AHY to make changes happen," said the former Secretary General of the Ministry of Defense and Private Secretary to the President of the Republic of Indonesia in 2011, Ediwan Prabowo.

He said, Anies-AHY is a pair that represents change.

On the same occasion, Marsdya TNI (Purn) Muhammad Syaugi Alaydrus said that the two of them were a perfect match.

"The right combination of civilian and military," he said.

AHY also received this support. He feels that the support of retired TNI-Polri officers is an additional strength for the spirit of change.

“That with me, behind me. There are patriots, there are seniors who are ready to support, not only with their blessing, but also to fight together when the time comes," he added.

It was previously known that Ediwan had initiated the formation of the Anies-AHY Pro Community Alliance (Maspro).

The group was declared in Matraman, East Jakarta, 5 March 2023.

Maspro has also held a meeting with Anies on March 2, 2023.

Currently, Anies has been nominated as a presidential candidate (capres) from the Change Coalition for Unity (KPP).

The coalition is made up of Democrats, Nasdem, and the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS).

Currently, Anies is said to be considering a cawapres figure to be chosen to accompany him for the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres).
