Sandiaga Uno Admits Spending Nearly IDR 1 Trillion for 2019 Presidential Election Campaign Costs
Sandiaga Uno admitted that he spent around IDR 1 trillion in campaign costs when he was a contestant in the 2019 Presidential Election (Pilpres).
It is known that Sandiaga Uno has advanced as a vice presidential candidate (cawapres) accompanying Prabowo in the 2019 presidential election.
However, Sandiaga stated that these costs had been reported and audited by the General Elections Commission (KPU) and recorded in the State Officials Wealth Report (LHKPN).
"Maybe two years after the DKI Pilgub, (costs incurred) are almost IDR 1 trillion," said Sandiaga Uno in the Rosi program on Kompas TV, Thursday (27/4/2023).
He admitted that the campaign costs for winning Prabowo-Sandi at that time did not only come from him. But also various parties who support the pair of candidates.
"Yes, everyone, join the fight. But openly, I report the amount of treasure that must be legoed to finance the campaign," he said.
Sandiaga Uno then realized that his logistical strength made him the target of many parties to become a vice presidential candidate (cawapres).
However, in his view, the determination of the nomination of presidential and vice presidential candidates is not only determined by material strength alone.
"In my opinion, it should be more than that (material), because thoughts, ideas, strategies, and this long breath are very important in politics. Not only in terms of funding strength," said Sandiaga.
It is known that Sandiaga Uno is the richest minister in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet. In 2022, he is recorded as having assets of up to IDR 10.6 trillion.
Currently, Sandiaga is often considered to be a suitable figure to become the running mate for Ganjar Pranowo, who has been promoted by the PDI-P as a presidential candidate.
Sandiaga has also declared his resignation from the Gerindra Party, but has not announced which political party he will join.
Many people suspect that Sandiaga Uno will become a cadre of the United Development Party (PPP). This is because the two of them have continued to show closeness since the end of 2022

Sandiaga Uno mengaku, ia mengeluarkan biaya kampanye sekitar Rp 1 triliun saat menjadi kontestan dalam Pemilihan Presiden (Pilpres) 2019.
Diketahui, Sandiaga Uno maju menjadi calon wakil presiden (cawapres) mendampingi Prabowo di Pilpres 2019.
Namun, Sandiaga menyatakan biaya tersebut telah dilaporkan dan diaudit oleh Komisi Pemilihan Umum (KPU) serta terekam dalam Laporan Harta Kekayaan Penyelenggara Negara (LHKPN).
“Mungkin dua tahun setelah Pilgub DKI itu, (biaya yang dikeluarkan) hampir Rp 1 triliun,” kata Sandiaga Uno dalam program Rosi di Kompas TV, Kamis (27/4/2023).
Ia mengaku biaya kampanye pemenangan Prabowo-Sandi kala itu tak hanya berasal dari dirinya. Tapi juga berbagai pihak yang mendukung pasangan calon tersebut.
“Ya semua ikut berjuanglah. Tapi secara terbuka, saya melaporkan jumlah harta yang harus di lego untuk membiayai kampanye,” ujarnya.
Sandiaga Uno lantas menyadari bahwa kekuatan logistik membuatnya banyak diincar oleh berbagai pihak untuk menjadi calon wakil presiden (cawapres).
Namun, dalam pandangannya, penentuan pengusungan capres-cawapres tak hanya ditentukan oleh kekuatan materi semata.
“Menurut saya, harusnya lebih dari itu (materi), karena pemikiran, gagasan, strategi, dan nafas panjang ini yang sangat penting dalam berpolitik. Bukan hanya dari segi kekuatan pendanaan,” kata Sandiaga.
Diketahui, Sandiaga Uno merupakan menteri paling kaya dalam Kabinet Indonesia Maju. Pada tahun 2022, ia tercatat memiliki harta mencapai Rp 10,6 triliun.
Saat ini, Sandiaga kerap dianggap menjadi salah satu figur yang cocok untuk menjadi cawapres Ganjar Pranowo yang telah diusung PDI-P sebagai capres.
Sandiaga juga telah menyatakan mundur dari Partai Gerindra, tetapi belum mengumumkan ke parpol mana akan berlabuh.
