PRAYER RECEIVES ZAKAT
By: Ahmad Syahrin Thoriq
It is sunnah for people who receive zakat to pray for people who give zakat to them.[1] The reason for this is the following verse:
"Take zakat from some of their property, with that zakat you clean and purify them and pray for them. Verily, your prayer is a reassurance for their soul." (QS. At Taubah: 103)
The choices of prayers that can be read when receiving zakat include:
First
"O Allah, give blessings to (mention the name of the person who pays zakat)."[2]
Second
Allah, the Most High, the Most Merciful
"O Allah, bless him and his wealth."[3]
Third
"May Allah reward you for what you have given, may Allah purify you and may Allah bless you with the treasures that are still with you."[4]

Meanwhile, in an almost similar editorial, the following is a well-known prayer among Hanabilah scholars:
Almighty Allah

"The law of praying is not obligatory according to the popular opinion of our madhhab and other madhhabs." (Al Adzkar p. 309)
[2] This lafadz is based on the following hadith:
“When a people came to the Prophet ﷺ with alms, he then prayed for them: “Allahumma salli ‘alaihim” (O Allah, have mercy on them).
After that my father met him while bringing his alms. He also prayed for him: "Allahumma shalli 'ala ali abu Aufa. (O Allah, send blessings on the Abu Aufa family).” (Narrated by Bukhari)
[3] This prayer is based on the hadith:
“The Prophet ﷺ once sent a zakat collector... So a man came with a good camel and said; 'I repent to Allah ﷻ and to His Prophet ﷺ,' So he said: 'O Allah, bless him and his camel.' (Narrated by Nasai)
