Ferdy Sambo Still Sentenced to Death!
Jakarta - The DKI Jakarta High Court rejected the appeal of the former Head of Propam Polri Ferdy Sambo. As a result, Sambo was still sentenced to death in the case of premeditated murder of Brigadier N Yosua Hutabarat.
"Strengthening the decision of the South Jakarta District Court on behalf of the defendant Ferdy Sambo who was being appealed for," said chief judge Singgih Budi Prakoso during a hearing at the DKI High Court, Jalan Cempaka Putih, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (12/4/2023).

It is known, at the first level, Ferdy Sambo was sentenced to death. Sambo was found guilty of premeditated murder of his aide, Brigadier N Yosua Hutabarat. Ferdy Sambo was found guilty of violating Article 340 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 1st of the Criminal Code. Sambo was also found guilty of violating Article 49 in conjunction with Article 33 of Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 1 of the Criminal Code.
In the first instance decision, the judge stated that the pretext of sexual harassment against Sambo's wife, Putri Candrawathi, had no valid evidence. The judge also stated that it was very unlikely that Brigadier Yosua would abuse Putri, who was considered to have a dominant position towards Yosua as her husband's aide.
The judge at the South Jakarta District Court also stated that the motive for the premeditated murder of Yosua did not have to be proven. The reason is that motive is not part of a premeditated murder offense.
The judge also stated that the elements of deliberate action, the element of planning, and the element of taking Joshua's life that were charged against Sambo had been proven. In addition, the judge believes that Ferdy Sambo used black gloves and participated in shooting Yosua with a Glock 17 type weapon.
The judge stated that there were a number of things that weighed heavily on Sambo's verdict, one of which was Sambo's actions that tarnished the image of the Police. The judge stated that there were no mitigating circumstances for Sambo.
For information, Ferdy Sambo has filed an appeal against the death sentence handed down by the panel of judges at the South Jakarta District Court in the premeditated murder case of his adjutant, Brigadier N Yosua Hutabarat. Apart from Sambo, Putri Candrawathi, Strong Ma'ruf and Bripka Ricky Rizal also filed an appeal.
Only Bharada Richard Eliezer accepted the verdict of the first level panel of judges. The following is a list of sentences for Ferdy Sambo et al in the premeditated murder case of Brigadier Yosua:
1. Ferdy Sambo was sentenced to death
2. Princess Candrawathi was sentenced to 20 years in prison
3. Strong Ma'ruf was sentenced to 15 years in prison
4. Bripka Ricky Rizal was sentenced to 13 years in prison
5. Bharada Richard Eliezer was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison
