If Sin Smelled According to Ibn Qayyim in his book Al-Da'wa that there are many bad consequences caused by sin that is found in a person.  Among these bad consequences are: Closing intelligence, conscience becomes dysfunctional, closed and far from God's guidance.  Hadith narrated by Abu Hurairah he said: عن ابي هريرة قال قال رسول الله صلي الله عليه وسلم ان المؤمن اذا اذنب كانت نكتة سوداء في قلبه فان تاب ونزع واستغفر صقل قلبه فان زاد زادت حتي تعلو قلبه وذاك الران الذي ذكرالله في القراءن كلا بل ران علي قلوبهم ماكانوا يكسبون It means: From Abu Hurairah r.a, the Messenger of Allah said: verily, when a believer commits a sin, a black spot will appear in his heart. If he repents, frees himself from sin and asks forgiveness, then purify his heart. If he increases in sin, there will be more black spots to cover his heart. That is the climb as Allah says in the Qur'an "not like that, whatever sins they commit will cover their hearts.  Sheikh Hasan Al-Bisri also sai
