HISTORY KABAH The Kaaba, also known as the Ka'aba or the House of Allah, is a cube-shaped building located in the center of the Al-Masjid Al-Haram mosque in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. It is considered the holiest site in Islam and is the destination of the annual Hajj pilgrimage. The origins of the Kaaba are uncertain, but it is believed to have been built by the prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) and his son Ishmael as a shrine to the monotheistic god Allah. Over time, the Kaaba became a site of pagan worship, with 360 idols and statues placed inside. In 630 CE, the Prophet Muhammad conquered Mecca and cleansed the Kaaba of its pagan idols, rededicating it to the worship of Allah. Since then, the Kaaba has been the central focus of Islamic worship and a symbol of unity for the global Muslim community.
