- Today, Monday (8/4/2024), there will be a Total Solar Eclipse.

- Today, Monday (8/4/2024), there will be a Total Solar Eclipse.

Even so, this sky phenomenon cannot be seen in Indonesia.
This is because the Total Solar Eclipse this time only occurred in Mexico, the United States and Canada. So, what is the law if a total solar eclipse occurs but it is not visible in Indonesia? Do you still have to perform the Kusuf Prayer?

For your information, this Total Solar Eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and the Moon. As a result, the Moon covers the light from the Sun that should be visible from Earth, making the sky appear dark. The 2024 solar eclipse can only be seen in Mexico, the United States and Canada. For Muslims, the Kusuf Salat or eclipse salat is one of the sunnah prayers that is recommended to be performed during an eclipse, whether of the Sun or Moon.

The following is the law of Kusuf Salat if the solar eclipse on 8 April 2024 is not visible in Indonesia. The Director of Islamic Religious Affairs and Sharia Development at the Ministry of Religion (Adib) said that the Kusuf prayer or eclipse prayer is only recommended for Muslims in areas where the eclipse phenomenon occurs.

Since the April 8 total solar eclipse cannot be witnessed in Indonesia, it is not recommended to perform the Kusuf Prayer.
"For an eclipse that is not visible (in the Indonesian sky), the Kusuf Prayer is not recommended," said Adib when confirmed, Sunday (7/4/2024). According to him, the Kusuf Salat is performed during an eclipse in the sky.

The eclipse prayer time takes place when the eclipse begins to appear. This prayer ends when the eclipse ends, the Sun sets in a solar eclipse, or the lunar eclipse ends when the Sun rises.

Quoted from the Ministry of Religion website, the Kusuf prayer or eclipse prayer is performed in two rakats. Following are the details of the prayer procedures.

1. Intention in the heart
2. Say takbiratul ihram like normal prayer
3. Read ta'awudz, Al-Fatihah, and other long surahs with aloud
4. Then, bow while extending the prayer, followed by i'tidal or rising from bowing
5. After i'tidal, continue by reading Al-Fatihah and a long surah which is shorter than the first surah
6. Bow again for a shorter duration than before and i'tidal
7. Prostrate yourself for as long as bowing. Then, sit between two prostrations followed by another prostration
8. Rise from prostration to do the second rak'ah like the first rak'ah with shorter readings and movements
9. After the second prostration in the second rak'ah, sit down to recite the final tasyahhud
10. Greetings, forgiveness and prayers.

After prayer, the priest will deliver a sermon to the congregation about recommendations for dhikr, prayer, istighfar, almsgiving, and doing other good things.
The performance of the eclipse prayer or Kusuf prayer adjusts to the time the solar eclipse is visible in each area.
