Google Changes Safe Browsing in Chrome For Better Security
Google recently announced that they are making changes to the standard version of safe browsing in Google Chrome for better security improvements, according to Google, currently the standard version of safe browsing stores a list of unsafe websites on PC or mobile devices locally.
The list will continue to be updated every 30 to 60 minutes, but Google found that the average malicious website was active for less than 10 minutes.
With that, Google today changed how they store the list of unsafe websites, which will now be stored on Google servers so that the list will continue to be updated in real time.
According to Google, this method will reduce phishing attacks by websites by 25% compared to the old method where site data is stored on local devices.
Well apart from that, Google also added that this change will improve encryption and other privacy-enhancing techniques to ensure that no one (including Google) knows what websites users visit. You can learn information about this improvement from the following page.
When will this change take effect?
According to the information, this change has now started rolling out to all Desktop and iOS users, while Android devices will get this change at the end of March.
