 - For Muslims who are able to meet their needs, they are obliged to pay zakat fitrah in the month of Ramadan.

There are 8 groups who are entitled to receive zakat fitrah from people who are obliged to pay zakat. So, who are the groups who are entitled to receive zakat? 

Groups Entitled to Receive Zakat

The following groups are entitled to receive zakat, quoted from zakat.or.id:

1. Poor
A poor person is a person who does not have property. 
The poor group is a group of Muslims who must be prioritized in receiving zakat. 
There are two types of distribution of zakat funds to the poor, namely for the purpose of meeting daily living needs and to provide capabilities.

4. Gharim or Gharimin
Gharim is a person who has a lot of debt. This group of zakat recipients are categorized as recipients of zakat that we are obliged to give, which is divided into 2 types, namely:

Being in debt for his own benefit or needs

In debt because of reconciling humans, qabilah or tribes. 

5. Convert to Islam
A convert is a person who has recently converted to Islam. 
Converts have the right to receive zakat fitrah to support strengthening their faith and piety in embracing Islam. 
The zakat fitrah given to Muslim converts has a social role as a tool to strengthen brotherhood among Muslims. 

6. Fisabilillah
The fisabilillah group is a person or an institution whose main activity is fighting in the way of Allah in order to uphold the Islamic religion. 
The fisabilillah can be organizations broadcasting Islamic da'wah in big cities. 
Apart from that, there could also be projects to build mosques or broadcast Islam in remote areas. 

7. Ibn Sabil
Someone who is on a journey and runs out of provisions is the meaning of Ibn Sabil. 
This group of recipients of zakat fitrah is intended for people who cannot continue their journey, regardless of whether they are able or not. 

8. Amil
Amil is the last group entitled to receive zakat fitrah if the other 7 groups have already received zakat. Amil literally means zakat administrators or people who collect and collect zakat funds that have been given by muzzaki (people who give zakat). 

Conditions for Giving Zakat Fitrah

Before paying zakat fitrah, we must know the mandatory conditions. The following are the conditions for giving zakat fitrah, quoted from zakat.or.id:

Muslim and free

Meet two times, namely between the months of Ramadan and Shawwal, even if only for a moment

Having assets that are more than his daily needs for himself and his dependents on holidays and evenings

People who die before sunset at the end of Ramadan

Children born after sunset at the end of Ramadan

People who only convert to Islam after sunset at the end of Ramadan

Dependents of the newly married wife after sunset at the end of Ramadan

Reading of Zakat Fitrah Intentions

1. Zakat can be given in the form of staple food (such as rice, wheat, etc.)
or money equal to the price of the staple food.

نَوَيْثُ أَنْ أُخْرِجَ زَكَاةَ الفِطْرِ عَنْ نَفْسِي فَرْضًا لله ت َعَالى

Nawaitu an ukhrija zakaatal fithri 'an nafsii fardhan lillaahi ta'aalaa
"I intend to issue zakat fitrah on myself, fardhu because of Allah Taala
Reading of the intention of zakat fitrah for the family:

نَوَيْثُ أَنْ أُخْرِجَ زَكَاةَ الفِطْرِ عَنْ نَفْسِي وأَهْلِيِ ...... ف َرْضًا عَلَيَّ لله تَعَالى
Nawaitu an ukhrija zakaatal fithri 'an nafsi wa expert …… fardan 'alayya lillaahi ta'aala. 
"I intend to pay zakat fitrah for myself and my family
(mention their names one by one; wife, children and dependents)
it is obligatory upon me because of Allah Ta'ala."
Intention reading for people who pay zakat to others:

نَوَيْثُ أَنْ أُخْرِجَ زَكَاةَ الفِطْرِ عَنْ (........... ) فَرْضًا لله تَعَال ى
Nawaitu an ukhrija zakaatal fithri 'an (..............) fardhan lillaahi ta'aalaa
"I intend to pay zakat fitrah on (mention name), fardhu because of Allah Ta'ala"

5. Read the prayer after paying the zakat fitrah
Allah's blessings

Rabbanaa taqabbal minna innaka antas samii'ul 'aliim(u)
"O Allah, accept our (deeds of worship), indeed You are All-Hearing, All-Knowing"

6. And zakat recipients should read the following prayer:
آجَرَكَ اللَّهُ فِيما أعْطَيْتَ وَجَعَلَهُ لَكَ طَهُوراً وَبَارَك َ لَكَ فِيما أَبْقَيْتَ
Aajarakallahu fiimaa a'thaita wa ja'alahu laka thahuuran wa baaraka laka fiimaa abqaita.
