First in the World, China Launches Satellite into Space to Test 6G Technology

- China is listed as the first country in the world to launch a satellite into space to test 6G technology.
The satellite was launched by the world's largest telecommunications operator China Mobile into low Earth orbit to achieve low latency and high data transfer rates.
Reporting from Daily Sabah, Friday (9/2/2024), the vehicle was launched using a 5G satellite at the beginning of last week. China Mobile said the satellite will test 6G architecture and use domestic software and hardware, supporting in-orbit software reconstruction, flexible deployment of core network functions and automatic management, improving the efficiency and reliability of network operationssatellite core in orbit.
The autonomous 6G architecture was jointly developed by China Mobile and the Chinese Academy of Sciences' Academy of Innovation for Microsatellites.
Placing satellites like this in low earth orbit allows wider telecommunications signal coverage in cellular networks, as well as providing satellite internet services with higher bandwidth globally.
In October 2023, Chinese scientists successfully tested a communication device in space that could transmit light signals from one location to another without converting them into electrical signals.
The tests were carried out by a team at the Xian Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics, under the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Known as optical switching technology in space, the probe was sent into space by China's Y7 carrier rocket last August.
Previously, in November 2020, China had sent the world's first 6G experimental satellite. The 6G experimental satellite aims to verify terahertz (THz) communication technology in space.

- China mencatatkan diri sebagai negara pertama di dunia yang meluncurkan satelit ke luar angkasa untuk menguji teknologi 6G.
Satelit tersebut diluncurkan oleh operator telekomunikasi terbesar di dunia China Mobile ke orbit rendah Bumi untuk mendapatkan latensi rendah dan tingkat transfer data tinggi.
Dilansir dari Daily Sabah, Jumat (9/2/2024), wahana tersebut diluncurkan menggunakan satelit 5G pada awal pekan lalu. China Mobile menyebut satelit ini akan menguji arsitektur 6G dan menggunakan perangkat lunak serta perangkat keras domestik, mendukung rekonstruksi perangkat lunak di orbit, penempatan fleksibel fungsi jaringan inti, dan manajemen otomatis, meningkatkan efisiensi dan keandalan operasi jaringan inti satelit di orbit.
Arsitektur 6G otonom tersebut dikembangkan bersama oleh China Mobile dan Akademi Inovasi untuk Mikrosatelit Akademi Ilmu Pengetahuan China.
Penempatan satelit-satelit seperti ini di orbit bumi rendah, memungkinkan cakupan sinyal telekomunikasi yang lebih luas dalam jaringan seluler, serta menyediakan layanan internet satelit dengan bandwidth lebih tinggi secara global.
Pada bulan Oktober 2023 lalu, para ilmuwan China telah berhasil menguji perangkat komunikasi di luar angkasa yang dapat meneruskan sinyal cahaya dari satu lokasi ke lokasi lain tanpa mengonversinya menjadi sinyal listrik.
Uji coba dilakukan oleh tim di Institut Optik dan Mekanika Presisi Xian, di bawah Akademi Ilmu Pengetahuan China. Dikenal sebagai teknologi switching optik di luar angkasa, wahana tersebut dikirim ke luar angkasa oleh roket pembawa Y7 China bulan Agustus lalu.
Sebelumnya, pada November 2020, China telah mengirimkan satelit eksperimen 6G pertama di dunia. Satelit eksperimen 6G tersebut bertujuan untuk memverifikasi teknologi komunikasi terahertz (THz) di luar angkasa.
