List of the Most Popular Applications in Indonesia

- Research firm Data.ai has just published a report entitled State of Mobile 2024. This report reveals the behavior of people around the world in using cellphones, including Indonesia.
One of the categories discussed in the report is popular applications in Indonesia during 2023. Data.ai research shows that online financial and lending platforms (pinjol) were the most popular applications during that year with 222 million downloads.
Other categories are tools, productivity, and VPN services to website accelerators with a total of 194.7 million downloads. Below that is the tools and productivity category (for personal) with a total of 190.5 million downloads.
The first rank itself is filled by the Easycash lending application with growth of 22 percent year-over-year (YoY or year on year). Below that is the Turbo VPN application with 59 percent YoY.
Apart from being based on the number of downloads, Data.ai also shows popular applications in Indonesia which are calculated from the amount of consumer spending. The entertainment and over the top (OTT) category ranked first with consumer spending of 71.2 million US dollars or IDR 1.1 trillion.
Vidio is ranked first in this category with growth of 47 percent YoY. Below that is TikTok with growth of 67 percent YoY.
Another category is popular applications which are calculated from the amount of time spent per hour. Just like before, the entertainment and video sharing category was at the top with 69.9 billion hours.
YouTube is in first place with growth of 3 percent YoY. The second position is occupied by TikTok with growth of 33 percent YoY.

- Firma riset data.ai baru saja menerbitkan laporan bertajuk State of Mobile 2024. Laporan ini mengungkapkan soal perilaku masyarakat dunia dalam menggunakan ponsel, tak terkecuali Indonesia.
Salah satu kategori yang dibahas di laporan itu adalah aplikasi populer di Indonesia selama tahun 2023. Riset Data.ai memperlihatkan kalau platform keuangan dan pinjaman online (pinjol) adalah aplikasi paling populer selama tahun tersebut dengan jumlah unduhan 222 juta.
Kategori lainnya adalah alat, produktivitas, serta layanan VPN hingga akselerator website dengan jumlah unduhan (download) 194,7 juta. Di bawahnya ada kategori alat dan produktivitas (untuk personal) dengan jumlah download 190,5 juta.
Peringkat pertama sendiri diisi oleh aplikasi pinjol Easycash dengan pertumbuhan 22 persen secara year-over-year (YoY atau tahun ke tahun). Di bawahnya ada aplikasi Turbo VPN dengan 59 persen YoY.
Selain berdasarkan jumlah download, Data.ai juga memperlihatkan aplikasi populer di Indonesia yang dihitung dari jumlah pengeluaran konsumen (consumer spend). Kategori entertainment dan over the top (OTT) menempati peringkat pertama dengan pengeluaran konsumen 71,2 juta Dolar AS atau Rp 1,1 triliun.
Vidio masuk di peringkat pertama dalam kategori tersebut dengan jumlah pertumbuhan 47 persen YoY. Di bawahnya ada TikTok dengan pertumbuhan 67 persen YoY.
Kategori lainnya adalah aplikasi populer yang dihitung dari jumlah menghabiskan waktu (time spent) tiap jam. Sama seperti sebelumnya, kategori entertainment dan berbagi video jadi paling atas dengan 69,9 miliar jam.
YouTube masuk di peringkat pertama dengan jumlah pertumbuhan 3 persen YoY. Posisi kedua ditempati TikTok dengan pertumbuhan 33 persen YoY.
