SPIRITUAL AI - After being caught in a monopoly case, Alphabet agreed to pay a fine of US$ 700 million or Rp. 10.8 trillion. Most of the money is intended for Android cellphone owners.
Around US$ 630 million for compensation to consumers. Meanwhile, the remaining US$ 70 million will go to the state treasury.
Google also promises changes to its application store service, Play Store. In the future, the developers may use alternative payment systems. Google is prohibited from imposing a payment system on the Play Store as the only option for developers.
Google was also asked to simplify the process of downloading applications directly from developer sites. Users will be free to download applications outside the Play Store.
In a monopoly case reported by a number of groups in the United States (US), Google was proven to be monopolizing applications via the Play Store. This action apparently kills a healthy competition system. This defeat is one of several cases experienced by Google. One of them, the Mountain View Giant had to fight Epic Games in a trial and was declared defeated.
Mobile game application developers accuse Google of making huge profits from application developers. Namely by charging a high commission for each payment for application items via the Google system. Apart from that, Google was also sued by the US Department of Justice for violating search engine competition and digital advertising laws.
Meanwhile, the agreement on the Play Store monopoly case has actually been established since last September. However, it was only announced recently.
Alphabet promises the operating system and Play Store will provide another option for users and competitors. Apart from that, it will also improve Android services and the application store. "We are pleased to have reached an agreement," Google said.

SPIRITUAL AI - Usai terjerat kasus monopoli, Alphabet sepakat membayar denda sebesar US$ 700 juta atau Rp 10,8 triliun.
