-- The Temu application has started to become a topic of conversation in recent times. This e-commerce platform, which is predicted to be the twin of TikTok Shop, has even received serious attention from the Minister of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (Menkop UKM) Teten Masduki.
Teten is wary of the existence of Temu, a new e-commerce application from China that emerged shortly after the government banned TikTok Shop. This application has entered several countries in Asia.
So, what exactly is the Temu application?
Referring to the official page, Temu is an application supported by the Chinese company PDD Holdings. However, its head office is in Boston, United States.
Just like other e-commerce platforms, the app allows customers to browse and purchase products from a variety of categories, including electronics, home appliances, clothing and accessories.
This app acts as a marketplace where customers can search for and purchase products from various vendors. The app is free to download and use, and is available for Android and iOS devices.
Temu launched in 2022 and quickly became one of the most popular shopping apps in the United States. The app was praised for its easy-to-use interface, wide range of products, and competitive pricing. Additionally, the app offers a variety of payment options, including credit cards and e-wallets, as well as reliable delivery services.
This application is also one of the most downloaded on the App Store and Google Play. Temu offers a variety of products at deep discounts, most of which are shipped directly from factories or warehouses in China.
But the company also began to develop a bad reputation due to a number of problems, such as undelivered packages, mysterious fees, incorrect orders, and unresponsive customer service. Temu has received more than 30 complaints to the Better Business Bureau, and has a BBB customer rating of less than 1.5 stars, according to Time.
"They're making promises of delivery, and people aren't getting their items when they're supposed to," said Melanie McGovern, director of public relations and social media for the BBB.
RI is wary of Gathering
Coordinating Minister for UKM Teten Masduki was previously wary of the Temu application. The platform emerged shortly after the government banned TikTok Shop.
Teten admitted that he had asked President Joko Widodo not to enter the Temu digital platform into Indonesia.
"This has already entered several Asian countries, but I have told the President. Sir, don't let this enter Indonesia, if it does, my MSMEs will not be able to compete if our production is paralyzed, unemployment increases, purchasing power decreases. "We may not be able to grow the economy at 5 percent even though we need 7 percent," Teten said some time ago.
"What I mentioned earlier is one of the platforms from China called Temu, which is factory direct or factory direct to consumers," he explained.
He said that if this application entered Indonesia it would definitely eliminate many distribution chains which in the end would result in many people losing their jobs in Indonesia.
"Because the products will be more efficient so it will be impossible for our consumer goods products to compete. Well, we have to protect this, because before we can give birth to a new economy, we have to protect the people who work in the consumer goods sector. "Don't let them become unemployed before we can replace new jobs," he said.
Teten said that in today's digital era, everyone who has an MSME in a remote village can sell online, even on a large market scale, both at the national and even global levels.
But there are also many things to watch out for.
"But on the other hand, if we don't have superior products we will be invaded by products from outside which will enter remote villages," said Minister Teten,
Mengenal Aplikasi Temu, Platform yang Bikin Menteri Teten Ketar-ketir
Aplikasi Temu mulai jadi perbincangan dalam beberapa waktu terakhir. (Foto: Temuapp.org)
Lalu, apa sebenarnya aplikasi Temu?
RI waspadai Temu
Menkop UKM Teten Masduki sebelumnya mewaspadai aplikasi Temu. Platform muncul tak lama setelah pemerintah melarang TikTok Shop.
