1. Kubah pertama di dunia

Pada saat Romawi menguasai wilayah Yerusalem, kompleks Masjidil Aqsha sungguh miris keadaannya yakni pernah dijadikan sebagai tempat sampah. Setelah Amirul Mukminin Umar bin Khattab berhasil mengalahkan Romawi dan menaklukkan Yerusalem, Masjidil Aqsha yang penuh sampah itupun dibersihkan kembali.
3. Beberapa kali dibakar dan dihancurkan

Beberapa kali Masjidil Aqsha hancur karena invasi dan peperangan, kuasa Allah, akhirnya Masjid Al Aqsha dibangun kembali. Masjidil Aqsha juga sempat hancur karena bencana. Misalnya, pada abad ke-7 Masjid al-Aqsha hancur karena gempa bumi yang terjadi di wilayah Yerusalem.
Sama halnya saat pendudukan Israel 1967, kerusakan kompleks Masjidil Aqsha juga tak bisa terhindarkan. Yang tak kalah menggemparkan adalah kejadian yang dilakukan oleh seorang turis dari Australia bernama Denis Michael Rohan. Ia membakar dengan sengaja Masjid Qibla dan mimbar Nuruddin Zanki pada 1969. Dua hari setelah pembakaran, Rohan ditahan pihak berwenang dan dianggap mengalami gangguan mental yang serius sebagaimana yang dilaporkan kantor berita Anadolu.
4. Tempat Kitab Ihya Ulumuddin Ditulis
Kitab Ihya merupakan salah satu kitab yang paling terkenal dan cukup berpengaruh dalam literatur Islam. Al-Ghazali dikatakan pernah tinggal di Masjidil Aqsha untuk sementara waktu dan menulis kitab Ihya Ulumuddin. Adapun sebuah bangunan di Masjidil Aqsha juga ditandai sebagai lokasi kamar dimana al-Ghazali melahirkan magnum opus-nya itu.

5. Memiliki Perpustakaan
Sebagai tempat yang memiliki banyak sejarah, Masjidil Aqsha memiliki perpustakaan yang terdiri dari berbagai peristiwa bersejarah penting Palestina pada awal abad ke-20. Perpustakaan Al-Aqsha didirikan Dewan Legislatif Muslim Tertinggi pada tahun 1923. Perpustakaan ini juga menyimpan berbagai koleksi manuskrip berharga dan karya yang diterbitkan dalam studi Islam dan Arab.
6. Memiliki mimbar buatan Jepara
Pada tahun 1969 Masjidil Aqsha terbakar termasuk mimbar Nurudin Zanki atau yang lebih dikenal dengan mimbar Shalahuddin. Oleh sebab itum Raja Yordania Abdullah bin Husein II turut memprakarsai pembuatan replika mimbar masjid tersebut.
Berdasarkan laporan Adara Relief International yakni lembaga swadaya masyarakat yang memiliki perhatian pada urusan Palestina, tiga dari lima orang yang ditugaskan untuk membuat mimbar Masjidil Aqsha itu didapati berasal dari Jepara Indonesia.
7. Mengilhami nama-nama yang sama di Jawa
Al-Quds merupakan nama Arab dari kota Yerusalem. Di wilayah itulah Masjidil Aqsha berdiri dan Gunung Moria berada. Adapun salah seorang Wali Songo, Syekh Ja’far Shodiq atau Sunan Kudus ‘terinspirasi’ dengan nama-nama yang ada di Yerusalem.
