According to forecasts by the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), this lunar eclipse will occur in the early hours of October 29, 2023.
"A partial lunar eclipse occurs when the positions of the Moon-Sun-Earth are aligned. This causes part of the Moon's disk to enter the Earth's umbra. "As a result, when the peak of the eclipse occurs, the Moon will appear dark, slightly reddish in the part affected by the Earth's umbra," wrote BMKG in a press release on Tuesday, October 16 2023.
BMKG explained that the duration of the eclipse from the lunar eclipse phase starting (P1) until the eclipse ends (P4) is 4 hours 28 minutes 10 seconds. The duration of partiality, namely the length of time from the partial eclipse phase starting (U1) until the partial eclipse ends (U4), occurs for 1 hour 18 minutes 57 seconds.

2. 03:34-4:53 WITA: South Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, West Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, North Sulawesi and Gorontalo.
3. 04:34-05:53 WIT: North Maluku and most of Maluku.
4. 04:34 WIT until Moonset: Papua, most of West Papua, and parts of Maluku.

Sesuai prakiraan Badan Meteorologi Klimatologi dan Geofisika (BMKG), gerhana bulan ini akan terjadi pada 29 Oktober 2023 dini hari.
"Gerhana bulan sebagian terjadi saat posisi Bulan-Matahari-Bumi sejajar. Hal ini membuat sebagian piringan Bulan masuk ke umbra Bumi. Akibatnya, saat puncak gerhana terjadi, Bulan akan terlihat berwarna gelap sedikit kemerahan di bagian yang terkena umbra Bumi tersebut," tulis BMKG dalam siaran pers pada Selasa, 16 Oktober 2023.
BMKG menjelaskan, durasi gerhana dari fase gerhana bulan mulai (P1) hingga gerhana berakhir (P4) adalah 4 jam 28 menit 10 detik.
Adapun durasi parsialitas, yaitu lama waktu dari fase gerhana sebagian mulai (U1) hingga gerhana sebagian berakhir (U4) terjadi selama 1 jam 18 menit 57 detik.
