About Veronica Koman?

Veronica Koman is an Indonesian human rights lawyer and activist who has gained international attention for her work advocating for the rights of the people of Papua, a province in eastern Indonesia. She has been recognized for her efforts in exposing human rights abuses in Papua, including incidents of violence and discrimination against the indigenous Papuan population.

Koman is also known for her support of the West Papua independence movement, which seeks to establish an independent state in the region. Her advocacy for this cause has led to her being targeted by the Indonesian government, which has accused her of spreading false information and inciting unrest in Papua.

Despite the government's efforts to silence her, Koman continues to be a vocal advocate for the rights of Papuans and has been recognized internationally for her work. In 2019, she was awarded the Sir Ronald Wilson Human Rights Award by the Australian Council for International Development, and in 2020 she was included in TIME Magazine's list of the 100 most influential people in the world.
