JK admits that he proposed the name of vice presidential candidate for Anies
The 10th and 12th Vice Presidents of the Republic of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla (JK), admitted that he had proposed the name of the vice presidential candidate to Anies Baswedan. He said this while attending an iftar invitation with the NasDem Party.
"There is (the name of the proposed cawapres) for sure, it depends on which one Mr. Anies is," said JK after attending a joint iftar (bukber) at the NasDem Tower, Central Jakarta, Saturday (25/3/2023).
Even so, JK said he did not know who Anies would choose as vice presidential candidate. According to him, the suitable vice presidential candidate is the one with the most potential to add votes for Anies' victory.
"It's suitable if the candidates add votes and work together later if they win," he said.
On that occasion, JK denied that he proposed the name of East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa to accompany Anies.
"Not yet (carrying the name Khofifah to Anies)," he added.
As is well known, the NasDem Party held an iftar together (bukber) at the NasDem Tower, Menteng, Central Jakarta, today. The presidential candidate (bacapres) of the Change Coalition Anies Baswedan and a number of high-ranking party officials were seen attending the bukber.
Those present included the chairman of the NasDem Party Surya Paloh, the chairman of the Democratic Party Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), the chairman of the Golkar Party Airlangga Hartarto, the Deputy General of the PPP DPP Rusli Effendi, and the PKS Secretary General Habib Aboe Bakar Alhabsy.
