Banquets For Parties Serve Internal Power "Flying Saucers" Or Not?
If in the Western tradition we are familiar with the banquet style of standing party and seating party, while in Chinese custom there is the term ciakciu banquet, but this is different from the traditional Solo-Jogja banquet style called flying saucers.
Flying saucer itself refers to a banquet-style wedding party that is served directly by the waiter to the invited guests. So guests only need to sit in the chairs that have been arranged to then receive "flying saucers" or food from the waiter. Although this style of presentation seems inconvenient and takes a long time, it is undeniable that flying saucer banquets are increasingly difficult to find.
Beginning with the family carnival. The flying saucer reception begins with the bridal procession and the families of the bride and groom when they enter the wedding reception area. Usually the carnival begins with the bride and groom, followed by the men's family, then the women's family. As with a traditional procession, the carnival at the flying saucer reception is also accompanied by traditional Javanese music. After the bride and groom occupy the aisle seats, the event continues with greetings from the male and female families and continues with prayers.
Main event After that, then enter the main event of the wedding reception. In accordance with the traditional weddings of Solo and Jogja, the main events carried out by the bride and groom are usually the panggih procession, the bride and groom's sungkeman to their parents, stomping eggs, weighing scales, and bribes. After the main event is over then the flying saucer banquet is performed.
Before the event started, the guests' seats had been arranged in rows facing the aisle stage. Then, during the banquet, the flying saucers or often called sinoman line up with various kinds of dishes which will be distributed in stages to the invited guests. The order of serving this type of food is often abbreviated as USDEK; acronym for Show, Soup, Dhaharan, Es, and Kundur.
Show. In Indonesian, the word means drink. At a flying saucer party the meal begins with a sweet drink such as tea along with light dishes such as sponge cake.
Soup. Much like an appetizer, guests will then be given a soup dish which usually contains rotel, sausage, ear mushrooms.
Dhaharan. This section can also be referred to as the main dish. The menu for the main dish can also vary depending on the choice of the stakeholder, such as rice, chicken, and so on.
Ice. After serving the main course, the flying saucer dinner ends with dessert in the form of ice cream or puter ice. There are also additional desserts such as tiramisu, pudding or other sweet dishes.
Gourd. Kundur which also means 'going home' is the last event in the flying saucer party. Before leaving, the invited guests will shake hands to congratulate the bride and groom.
During the flying saucer banquet procession, the invited guests will usually be entertained with entertainment in the form of Javanese music or dances.
